My MIL is insistant on purchasing baby things so is buying, yellow, green, cream, white, honey coloured items. I have decided that if we are having a girl I dont want pink anything, as I have a secret hatred for all things pink. I think it was due to being a tomboy, and my mum surprising me by redecorating my bedroom pink when I was 8 ( I didnt speakto her for a week oopsy). SO tomorrow at my scan I want to try and find out but then do the "It wasnt clear enough to see" thing so we dont get bombarded with pink/blue things. Or am I just being harsh...

We've done the 'baby had its legs crossed so we couldn't see', since our 20 week scan.

I've done really well, and not slipped up once and i've only five weeks to go. However, , OH told his mum it was a girl, the day after the scan, but swore her to secrecy.
MIL is a bit of a shopaholic though, and my secret cupboard is quickly becoming a pink nightmare

  • Hello,
Im looking for advise on Baby thank you (gift) cards.
Does anyone know where I could find a site that does personalised cards (allows you to upload a photo) at a good price and quality. Or tips for making your own from scratch?

I am organising this on behalf of a relative that has just had a baby girl.
And from scanning through this thread a lot posters are about to/have recently given birth or have older children, so I thought this might be the place to ask advise for tips!

    All advise welcome, thanks

    Congrats!
TBH they might not see you at the docs, mine didnt they just gace me a 'pack' and told me to contact the midwifes and scanning dept myself, so dont be too disheartened if they seem really disinterested xx

    Evening

Thanks all for the congrats. It's still not really real for us!!

I was just going to ask if I need to see the doc or just the nurse or if not, how do I contact a midwife? And at what point?

According to clearblue digital, only 2 weeks gone so no rush!

Also, how do you get a 6 week scan? Thats not a usual thing is it or can i request it?

    Thanks

Jam - I justed phoned the Doctors and asked the receptionist. I had to see the GP, and then book a Midwife appointment, but usually the receptionist will book you in to see the Midwife or tell you how to do it, without you needing to see GP.

I don't think you get early scans unless there is a reason, such as bleeding/cramping or previous problems. I think all units don't do reassurance scans, even if you really, really need one :(

Thanks for that. Will give my GP a call at lunch tomorrow. Have been cramping since Thurs (thats why I tested) but will see what they say. Lots of people say it normal so I'm just going with the flow at the minute.

Will let ya know what they say. Thanks:beer:
