Blimey. They want it all. I'd argue that either they refund you the £59 minus the £10 cancellation charge or you simply allow the policy to lapse uncancelled. Paying £10 to set their records straight is ridiculous. Really it is. Still at least you've got rid of the money drain that is OHs car...... perhaps a moped would be a very vague solution to the not really a bicycle dilema. You can use a 50CC hairdryer on wheels with your current UK driving licence and insure it for £100 a year still perhaps the bus is a safer (and cheaper) option.

I said that to them: "Right then, just leave the insurance running and I wont renew in November" and she said: "sorry, you're not allowed to have two insurance policies on the same car".

Oh my heckles are not just up, they are orbiting the stratosphere!

A moped isn't a bad idea really, I wouldn't be against it. Might look into it. Just don't want to get laughed at!

Spends yesterday: £1 to each of the kids to spend in the shop.

DH got his £200 from the mechanic, and the tax disc (ooh must remember to return that to DVLA ASAP for 4 x full months refund - about £50)

Today we are going bowling, after I have cleaned up and washed my hair, which at the moment I have no inclination to do!

My boss sent me a text today and asked if I would go in and work tomorrow as we appear to be very busy (they miss me when I am not there) so that'll be an extra £50 overtime money in my October wage, didn't expect any overtime, so am chuffed even if it means cutting my holiday short (I'm fed up of being stuck at home anyway)

That's it really, did sod all yesterday!

Have you attended any of the free events on Centenary Square this summer? There is a concerted effort by City Centre Management for the programme to be family-friendly, more so once the mirror pool is complete (funding all in place now). Apparently we will have the largest water feature in the UK.

If Bradford Council can keep that pool in good condition, then it will be a really nice place, however I used to work right next to the Magistrates Court fountain/pool and they couldn't look after that! I noticed in yesterday's paper that the council do have an events page on the website so will keep an eye on that, and see if anything is going on.

    Spends:
    £10.00 Bowling (Friday)
£ 2.75 (OK magazine, puzzle book for DS2)
    £ 5.00 - football DS2
    £0.80 - Saturday paper
£2.20 - panini whilst at DS2 footy practice.
    £34.80 - shopping
£10.00 - DH & DS1 have gone to see Harry Potter

The bowling came as a surprise. It had said on the website a family ticket was £15 so we got there at 12:20 and she asked for £10! They have a special summer holiday deal whereby you get every game before 1pm for £5! I was very impressed, it's not often places put their prices DOWN during the school holidays! Well done Go Bowling at Shipley!

Am not impressed with DH and his non-MSE ways. He's taken DS1 to see Harry Potter and he parked next door in the multi-storey. Last time we went, if you went in the cinema you got free parking but now it's only after 6pm, and will thus cost us £3!!! our council just do not want to encourage people to come into the city centre and spend money. I hate paying for parking

I'm back to work tomorrow so should get my last week's lotto bonus ball winnings which I hope will be a rollover, but if not £14 is better off in my pocket!

I vaguely comtemplated posting like that but it makes such depressing reading:

    Money in purse : 70p
    Money in bank: £478.32
Cheques written but not yet cleared: £262.79
Childcare bill to be paid before next pay day: £120
Direct Debits to go out before next payday : £118.97
Actual money in bank not already allocated for things: -£23.44
    Days until payday: 19

and Septembers swimming lessons need to be booked and paid for by the 31st so thats another £100 to find. Unsurprisingly this morning has been spent listing shed loads of stuff on flea-bay.

Yes, but I think you owe less money than I do. Also, if you had as much money leftover as I did, you would sensibly pay something off. I just want to horde it and count it!

Rather depressingly its around 6K more than you and the reason I'm super mega skint is I worked out what the most I could afford to pay off was and then paid it all on payday to stop me being tempted for the remainder of the month, completely forgetting that it was the school hols. I am a muppet.

I'm still around, thanks for asking, but I have been back at work so haven't been as obsessively counting every penny in my purse this week LOL.
