Hello all, sorry I haven't managed to post for a couple of days, been busy!

2 days to get through until payday. £0.59 in bank and £32.50 in purse! Good old Lloyds Bar and their cheapie drinks (pint of bitter for £1.29, and although DH is normally a lager drinker, he found half price bitter too much of a bargain to turn down, so he became a bitter drinker for the night. I was the designated driver so I just had coca-cola). Looks like we spent about £17. We didn't go for a meal after all as I'd got past feeling hungry. I did tell myself we could get a takeaway but couldn't even be bothered with that in the end.

I can actually see my wage that is due on Monday, it's showing in my available balance so that's useful to know for future Monday wages!

Now I just have to fund DH's 20-per-day habit for the next two days, and his bottle of wine per day habit which will cost about £17 in total and I am really quite annoyed about. I'm not due to do my 'end of month spending diary' until tomorrow but looking through my notebook he's had his £200 + LOADS of extra money from me, which is making my blood boil!

I'll stop moaning now, I could go on for hours and hours.

He also got his wage slip for the end of June and my God I took one look about it and was convinced they had added it up wrong but oh no! That is his wage minus two days that he had off sick! Thank goodness that I got loads of overtime...I need to try and get some in before 15th July so that I can get some in my August wage so will need to go grovelling to my boss I think...even five hours on a Saturday is an extra £50.

Heh heh: Have been sneaky and given DH his pocket money early! Let him fund his own cigs etc...but will make it clear he's only got it two days early as it's showing in the bank, and that it will therefore make the next month a five month weekend for him so he'll have to budget better.

  • I know it's a week bit early, but Monday;s wage was available in my bank yesterday. I've done the math and after outgoings, my monthly available-for-everythin-else money is £845.79 and32 days to next pay-day. (I can't believe I have so much left - that feels like LOADS)

Mum and dad shocked me last night by saying they now don't want me to start paying the loan money back until my other loans are paid off or DH gets a better paid job (whichever comes first). It's a wonderful offer but I feel that I want to get it paid back sooner rather than later. Maybe I could reduce it until the loans are paid off? I have to think about it anyway, as there's too much other stuff going on at the moment.

Met the very lovely Moo2Moo who had me in stitches, she is truly as funny in real life as she is in her writing and I would urge you to read her thread if you don't do so already. We had a meet up in a local park, the kids were really well behaved and the weather was great - what else could I wish for?

My brother's girlfriend baked me a belated birthday cake today and it's quite possibly the nicest chocolate cake I have EVER had! I'm not a fan of chocolate cake but this is really nice and light - drool. I keep running to the fridge and chipping bits off!

Looking forward to Friday as DH gets his last wage from his ex-employer, which we can stash in our emergency fund.

PS - still have over £20 left in my purse too. Went out with mum & dad for my birthday to local WMC and didn't have to spend a penny (a monetary penny that it, I got my moneysworth out of their toilets - cola goes right through me LOL).

Really well behaved right up until my DD1 slapped your DS1 across the face for being cheeky. Couldn't believe it when she followed up the slap with both hands on her hips and the finger wag. I couldn't apologise for laughing. Shes far too much like me at times.

    *howls with laughter*

I'd forgotten about that but obviously DS1 is still very traumatised as he's been flinching every time I raise my hand near him :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

  • Wayhay - no idea how much money I have got, or how many days it is until my next pay day. I've also completely lost the plot with the grocery challenge and have no idea whether I'm under or over. I've also broken the 100 day challenge by buying a nail polish and had a shop bought lunch today. Oh - and I'll be also breaking into crazy clothings challenge money as I've bid for a top on e-bay!

Blimey - how many hail marys do I get for that lot?

Two money disasters! Stupid useless lump of crap metal is in the garage AGAIN! I don't know what the damage is yet (it's rattling and engine light has come on). However last time we had it in I made DH promise we wouldn't be forking out any more money if it broke again. Do I?
    1. Pay out whatever it costs then try and sell it.
    2. Pay out whatever it costs, continue to use it, then continue paying out for whatever repairs it needs over the next 28 months - til I can next get a loan for a new car.
    3. Buy a banger and try make it last 28 months.
    4. Buy myself a bus pass (£18 per week, make DS1 get bus home £4.50 per week) and let DH have my car (he works farther away than I do, and has to get two kids to school).

Secondly - had a howling mad rage last night. Went to do a load of washing and as soon as I pressed start noticed some idiot had pressed all the buttons so it was on a 90 degree cotton wash with a 1500 spin....I couldn't stop it so it's resulted in DS1's green (knitted type wool) school jumper (£18) becoming stretched beyond repair, and leaking manky green colour into my favourite yellow smock-type t-shirt (the one I was wearing when I met you Moo). It's now a manky sludge colour. It's not that it was designer, or special, but it was my favourite t-shirt and I felt comfortable in it. In revenge I found one on e-bay exactly the same (but it's pink....not sure if it will clash with my new red hair though. I am confident on being the highest bidder). DH admitted that he'd washed his white work shirts and some towels on the 90 degree wash on Sunday because 'his work shirts had tide marks on the collars' NO THEY DID NOT! So as he never goes near the WM and I was out Sunday morning (actually, I could implicate Moo2Moo in the blame) I didn't notice he'd done the washing, so still expected it to be at a 40 degree-synthetics-1000 spin. Idiot man!

Counting back from the last time you posted it's 29 days until you get paid :A

20 Hail Marys for you, bad Floozie :rotfl:

I have had shop bought lunches all sodding week as I'm lazy and also have left at home/on bus twice this week, so don't feel bad. I'm going to be raiding my Sealed Pot for lunch money I think. It's all gone Pete Tong :rotfl:

DH has got his car back, and it hasn't cost us owt to get it fixed. I've decided plan number 4 is not do-able no way can I spend any more time on a bus than I have to. I'd rather eat my own toe nail clippings than use public transport ever again

DH's last *boo hoo* wage slip from his old job came today - now thats what I call a wage slip!! Now have £3900 in my emergency savings fund, or the equivalent of 7 months of loan payments (not that I hope to ever have to spend it on that although I'm not mentally spending it on anything at the moment)

Woohoo - I make it 27 days until pay day (including today) and I have £876.75 to last, which is loads!!!!! Virgin bill came today and phone is £5 more than it was last month so am outraged!

  • Hmm...have been thinking about taking my mum and dad's offer not to pay them back just yet on board and have been thinking of snowballing my loans instead.

I presently have three loans. Two with Natwest and one with Alliance & Leicester. I am not sure how much is owed to A&L but I only took it out in October 2008 over three years and borrowed £7500 @ 10.9% and pay £234 per month.

Loan 1 with Natwest I owe £4550.70 and pay £137.90 per month. There are approximately 28 payments left on this (including the one that is due out next week)

Loan 2 with Natwest I owe £7189.30 and pay £172 per month. I only took this one out in January to pay off my Barclaycard over five years, so there are 55 payments left on this one (ish).

We have £3800 in our emergency fund, and I'm 50/50 tempted to pay this off Loan 1, which would maybe leave a small balance still to pay, however this would leave us with no emergency fund whatsoever and just £137 per month better off so I really am loathe to do this.

If I snowballed the £135 + £137 per month onto loan 1 we could maybe have it paid off in 15-16 months. Maybe less, if I could get into the swing of PAD?

However I am also terrified of the mortgage rates rising (I was paying £568 per month before they started going down, and now pay £361 so that's £207 a month more). Also due to DH's new job with much less money, I don't think we would be able to remortgage as we wouldn't earn enough on paper?

    What do you think?

I only have one loan left (Yay!) but am saving up to pay it off. I pay money monthly from my PADs into an account I can't access quickly and once I have a lump sum I will pay it off.

I also have the comfort of knowing that if some kind of emergency arises, I have this money to fall back on. Maybe you could add to your emergency fund until there is, for example, £2,000 in it plus enough to pay off one loan, then snowball from there...?

I have also benefited a lot from the drop in mortgage rates, so I consider that as well!

That's a really good idea actually - I think I just feel like cheating if the money isn't physically coming off the loan balance. Yep - I think I will do that!!! (put money to oneside then pay off loan when I have enough money)
