6 Days to ge through until pay day. £32.63 to last (still).
Still no sign of pay-pal money, I hope it arrives tomorrow. How long does it normally take? Can't remember when I requested it. Both e-bay sales yesterday have been paid already but I have felt too rough to go to the post office. Will wrap them tonight and force myself to go tomorrow. There's £11.51 in paypal now, which I will probably leave to pay my fees out of. Re-listed one of the DVDs but the Rosemary Conley had five watchers before the auction finished but only one person bid, so they got it for 99p + £1.00 postage! I had expected a bidding war at the very least!
I have been exhausted all day at work, and have nearly fell asleep on my desk a couple of times. Picked kids up, came home, then went up to bed where I was asleep for an hour until DS2 woke me up. Now I know why I feel tired as I have a gurgly tummy and funny smells going on (sorry).
Maybe it's because I bought a shop bought lunch LOL. Spent £2.70 today on Quiche and chips andit was very nice, but I feel really naughty! Will definitely pack sandwiches tomorrow.
We've advertised for a vacancy in my office and my boss brought in the applicants that had passed all the essentials - I couldn't believe the numbers, 117 applied, 60 were paper sifted, and now my boss wants to get them down to 10 to interview. There were applicants from silly distances away too (including one in Eire who didn't seem to have any links with the area and didn't state on his application why he was applying for a job in West Yorkshire!) and nearly everyone on their reason for leaving stated 'redundancy' - shocking!Start Date: 27/11/2010

5 days to pay day. £53.33 to last.
I went to the Theatre to get the tickets for Sound of Music but I simply couldn't bring myself to pay £36 for a ticket! I had expected it to be about £27, which I considered the highest price I would pay, so just couldn't bear to fork out an extra £9. Mum said she would pay the difference - but it wasn't that! I just didn't feel it was worth £36.
I did, however, book a ticket for Never Forget which is a musical based around the Take That story and those tickets were £24 so I have bought that - funnily enough I might have been happy to pay £36 for those as Take That are my favourite group (even though it's not actually Take That). We're going on 24th July and I cannot wait!! I'm seeing if I can 'fund' it myself rather than taking it out of the emergency money! Obviously I do have a night out on Friday to fund too, but I will try my best.
Paypal Money arrived so that is funding my Friday night out.
Petrol is on the last bar (the one before it goes onto the last one which flashes to tell me I have 40 miles left) but I don't like to get to the flashing stage, so I hope to last until Monday.
Underestimated E-Bay postage AGAIN! That will teach me not to weigh things. Who would have thought a DVD in case would cost £1.23 to post! I only charged £1 and it only sold for 99p so I;ve made less than 70p on it. Hardly worth it, this e-bay businessMind you, mustn't moan as without it, I would have paid out more money than I had spent this month!

haha, yours is one of my favourite diaries though - can't keep away!!!I do not make mistakes, I learn lessons.I work to live, not live to work.I love to live & live to love.Good enough is exactly that.0 -
Awwww thank you for that Lurker! That was lovely to hear.
I seem to have miscalculated days to pay day somewhere along the line. It's actually 5 days to go through including today! BOO! Still £53.33 in bank
I also have to go to Morrisons in a bit and spend some money however, and DH has ran out of money too, so I will be funding his cigs, which I am annoyed about but I'm not putting up with him being like a bear with a sore head without them. This is despite him giving up his bottle of wine Mon, Tue, wed & Thur thus saving £9 per week!
So - my birthday night out combined with his leaving do tomorrow will have to come out of the emergency fund which I will have to pay back out of my wage on Monday. I could maybe avoid this by not going out for a meal, and just having a few drinks, but !!!!!! it! It's MY birthday, I'm not drinking (to save on taxi fares) and I much prefer a meal to standing in a pub. Also if the 15th had been on a Sunday rather than a Monday, I would have been getting paid on Friday anyway.
I need to buy some cakes to take into work as is the tradition, so I am probably going to spend about a fiver.
Then DH sent me an e-mail today saying youngest DS was excitedly telling all his friends and their mums at school that it was my birthday tomorrow and we will be getting me a cake. DH told him we didn't have a lot of money and DS2's face fell so he told him we would get a small one....so, I'm buying my own birthday cake LOL. It's not his fault we're almost destitute is it? Quick question - do you know how they whittled the numbers down to select for interview?I do not make mistakes, I learn lessons.I work to live, not live to work.I love to live & live to love.Good enough is exactly that.0

Yes. There were five competencies (can't remember them all, but for example, planning, communication, personal responsibility and two others) and on the application form the candidates had to provide examples. Whittling was simple. 2 for excellent examples, 1 for good, 0 for poor and the score was out of 10. one person got 9 and seven people got 8, so he chose to interview those who scored 8 & 9. He had it clear in his head he didn't want to be interviewing more than 10 (even though he's picked 11) but that was because of the disability rule.
He had to be tough though, so I would advise if you are filling in an application form, to make your answers as close to the job description as you can.
For example - one candidate had written that in her current job she was responsible for ...."disseminating information to..." and one of our responsiblities says"...disseminating information to" - even though the candidate had probably never used that word in her life.
Hope this helps.Start Date: 27/11/2010

Okay - so cake buying expedition was not as painful as expected. £53.33 in bank + £5.00 tax credits expected tomorrow = £58.
1. For my birthday cake bought Morrisons 'The Best' Toffee cake for £1.95 (reckons 6 portions, but more like four in our house.
2. Cakes for le'office came to £5.14
Took coppers from the pint pot to the cash machine which were worth a £1.91 voucher.
Took £3.00 Luncheon Vouchers
This left me to pay £2.18 so I paid on debit card and asked for £5 cash back, which means I can withdraw £50 cash for night out.
DH has got £13 left so reckons I will only need to buy him 2 x 20 cigs, and a bottle of wine for Sat and Sun.
I therefore should not spend £55 on a night out and will be highly embarrassed if I do!Start Date: 27/11/2010
