After a terrible MSE January, I am attempting to clamber back on to the wagon. Today I have finally paid the remainder of what I owed to my friend so that is one (albeit small) debt cleared! Since 11th Nov I have managed to reduce debt figure by £900 (might be more, this is just a guesstimate) which isn't a huge amount but it's been good for me to see this.

Edit - Just reworked the figures owed and found that it's now under £12k!!

BC stupidly increased my credit limit, as I have been trying to pay them off, but this meant I could transfer nearly half of my H cc over at a rate of 6.9% instead of the hideous 26%.... so I should be saving a fair whack of interest each month.

Good work with the race Justruth!

Psychopathbabble, just remember that credit card comapnies will take capital off the debt with the lowest interest first, so if you balance transfer while you still have debt on the card, until you clear the transferred amount your debt at the BC rate will actually increase if you get me. I don't know if I am telling you what you already know but I thought it best to throw in a warning just in case. Also worthwhile considering the 3% (typical) balance transfer cost. I am a fan of using balance transfers to reduce the cost of debt, but these are the things that we have to consider when we do.

I am personally waiting on the building regs people to get back to me with the bill for my application before updating my balance as I know it is artificially low at the moment. That and the dental costs beginning to hit home a little but I think still worth it. My teeth are really sensitive at the moment due to the whitening treatment but as I said before I have wanted cosmetic dentistry in so long it's worth it!

Trying to arrange my summer, as there is a possibility that the job I had banked on doing will not be available this summer. It's not the end of the world if thats the case, and I have been offered an equally suitable job that would also pay well enough if thats the case, but I need to know which I will be doing, as the new job would require some additional training at cost, which would be of no use to the current one if that make sense.

Found my DFW pace again now I feel. The gf know's I have debt but I haven't told her the amount. She's very understanding about my need to work and study which makes her great, but she wants to go on holiday this year, and I simply cannot afford it unless I clear the debt. It's a major challenge that I willl have to work out, but one that starts with trying a bit harder on the debt.

  • The one I moved it to is one of the cheapest interest ones and it means I can pay off the highest interest one first now, so it helps a bit. Thanks for the advice though :o

Good luck with the holiday thing... I'm sure you can do it! Fingers crossed for the job situation :)

Meant to congratulate you on paying off the friend as well! At least now you have a little more to throw at the debt!

Just a quick update from earlier, C Charge paid till Nov, and parking permit for the year. Also had a bit of trouble with 3 and my contract, I was sold a package with a loyalty discount, which they never managed to add, so for the past couple of months I have had to ring them to ask them to add it. I called again on Sunday and said that it was a little frustrating to have to call each month and explain each month, and the customer services guy there looked into it and said that actually the package I had, I should not have been given that discount, so the 'system' kept disregarding it, and that he could not just add it on to try to rectify it. He said that he would email through to another member of the sales team who had sold me the contract and find a solution. He rang back today to confirm that as the discount could not be added they have credited me with the total amount of discount for the term! My phone bill is currently £250 in credit! This means at least for the next few months my phone bill is free, so I have a little more spare cash to last me! The bill without the discout would normally be around £30 a month, so don't expect to have to pay anything till about October! I'm not sure how they will deal with it, if they repay the cash and then charge full price even better!

Car back from service, all done and no extras, should also be slightly more fuel efficient now! Can't complain at that!

  • Hope your MOT went well.

Will admit to having brought a Euromillions ticket tonight, but £113m tempted me! Be nice if I win but willing to admit I probably won't.

Still working, still studying, just thinking what to give up for lent and decided to try to be a bit more MSE where I have let myself down lately including giving up chocolate. We'll have to see how that goes lol.

  • Were you the UK's biggest ever euromillions winner? We won a few quid in the syndicate but nothing worth getting excited over.

My car was ok except needs a new seatbelt in the back so total cost including MOT etc is £240. Have a really bad week, the guy I was seeing (who had said we were in a relationship) has cut me out of his life, I haven't heard from him for 10 days and he didn't turn up last Saturday when we were supposed to get together. I know he is alive and nothing has happened to him, but he can't even just let me know he is ok. I'm completely gutted.... not knowing quite what the catalyst was is also very frustrating.
I have an appointment tomorrow to start a 6 week course of counselling as I've been feeling depressed and miserable for far too long now and it's time to do something about it.

Unfortunately I wasn't, but I'll get over it. Sorry to hear about your MOT and this guy, the dude sounds like he needs to man up and talk to you, even if it's to tell you that it's over. Probably best off without him.

At least the counselling course will be a positive step.

On my own frontier, I have managed 2 NSDs this weekend.

  • Hopefully next time one of us will win something! Well done on the nsds, I don't even notice if I have them, I should probably pay more attention to what I'm doing.
