wannabe sybil and LameWolf - have you got "Nanny Ogg's Cookbook"? I bought a copy for my DD1 a couple of Christmases ago and had a good look through before wrapping it ;) The recipes seemed pretty good, though I think DD has been too busy to try them out.

reverbe - It's rotten for you being made redundant twice, I hope you find just the right job soon. ((HUGS))

Good morning, Taking dh to airport shortly, then a few jobs, then coffee with a friend, maybe coffee with another friend and then more jobs later. Rehearsal this evening. DS and I will have the second mystery tubs from the freezer. With mash and veg, as it looks like lamb casserole. Need to run all the machines, WM, DW, BM as well.

Hope you are all coping at this busy time.

Mmmm the lamb casserole was gorgeous and my ds like it too, strange without dh, but I daresay I'll get used to it. I don't miss him much when I go away myself, always miss him more when he's away.

Went to lakeland near the airport instead fo going home before visiting friend for coffee. Not time efficient to go all the way home and then back again. Had been wondering about getting a new electric bread slicer, but decided on the easy slice gadget, I'm not that good at manual cutting of bread, but ds finds it quite hard. Seems to work quite well. takes a lot less space than the slicer too. Got the choc moulds and a microwave steamer.

Lunch with friend, then met friend from sewing club. We had coffee in Borders, then spent the next hour in there next to the sewing/knittting/etc books browsing...sitting on the floor! 2 hours went very quickly indeed.

I'm sure it did me good to get away from everything today.

  • hi all,
not posted for a couple of days. been busy with nativities and what not. got some really bad news too. my best mates ex was found dead in his house. really don't know whats happening yet. waiting for his autopsy to come through and it's made more awkward by the fact that there's no contact with his family. it's so sad. her little one is going to be two just after xmas and now she doesn't have a dad. at least she's too young to remember too much of it.

had a group xmas dinner today, needles to say i wasn't really in the xmas spirit for it.
kids did great with their xmas concert, oldest son (10) played his guitar. so proud of them both.

still the mad stress of xmas.... don't seem to be getting anywhere with it. too late to order the wheat for my wheat bags so that idea's out the window too.
liver for tea i think. got more cookies to make too. also going to try bread, never done it before though and don't have anything as fancy as a bm! :rotfl:
well better go, running late as it is.
    happy anniversary to the pennypinchers.
hope everyone's well. take care. xxx

    Hi all,
just got back from DD's having droped dinners off , shep pie and veg.
DH had to drive because my hand/arm has become infected. I had the stitches out y/day, they took a swab and sent it to Lab then re-dressed the Harry Potter scar, the results will be phoned through next week, Hands/arms crossed.
I was trying to put the greenery on the beams y/day using drawing pins as per, asked DH to help as I couldn't do it one handed.:o
He tried 3 times then disapeared to B&Q and came back with a heavy duty staple gun, it was done in less than an hour.

I have been struggling for the last 30yrs using drawing pins, DH said " You should have said how difficult/painfull it's been"
Dear God give me strength.

Had my hair cut then we went to Morries, got YS fish to freeze and bought 2 bunches of Baby's Breath flowers, (Gypsophilla) cut all stems to the same size, sellotaped bunches together and pushed them between the greenery along with the wired fir cones and teasles having sprayed the latter two silver. I box them up after xmas and use again, think that's my OS bit.

DH has just announced that he has done some mash pots, nothing great about that but considering he has recently recovered from a stroke, I want to give him a medal, another achievement. :j

MEANMARIE, How is ULICK proggressing, I often think of you both. x

ELONA, Thank you for the info re- DD2. :A

CHARLIE'S MUM, What a busy Bee you are.

REVEREBE, I do hope that things improve for you, you're worth it.

More hugs going free, please help yourself. Must warn that special ones are kept for the hurting, poorlies, redundants and stressed.

    Hi all,
I hope that everyone is having a good day.
There is more bad wether on the way this weekend so everyone is going to have to rap up warm if thay go out.

Well i got back home from work today to two very loud twins:j :j
Not too bad now ones asleep and the other is sat by me on the setee.
My wife is cooking a fish pie for dinnner tonight, so im looking forward to that.
Last night we went to asda. and i had a joint of pork for only £3.01 and it a good size to should feed 4-6 people i think.
The price was its normal price not a woops or anything like that. If i had room in the freeza then i would have got another one.

It seems to me that the price of meat is coming down at last.

well i better go as twin 2s being loud again
:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j
  • Evening All

(((hugs))) whereever needed - seems a few people are in need.

Halight - that is a really good price - we love roast pork here.

Havnt had a very productive day although have sorted out some Xmas stuff and cleaned the kitchen blinds which is never a favourite job.

Have ordered myself a S.A.D light box which I am renting to look to buying see if that improves things.

Gonna chill this evening then off out early in the morning to town. Have read that Mr T is going to do a massive 50% discount on loads of stuff from tomorrow, is toys & stuff but also food - may have to go and have a look in there.

Off now to have a surf.

    Evening :santa2:
Late again been all over the place, Went down chemists to pick up prescription, then dropped a bag off to the charity shop, went to bank, then to get some pics developed for the 2 Mums at Morrison's,filled up with diesel (its only 99.9 a litre now)on the way out, then to Currys to change a present DS2 and DIL bought me.
Back home then off out to Asda to get MIL a new toaster, we are buying it for her for Christmas, along with a new Duvet. She asked us to get her a new one a couple of weeks ago, we hadnt got a clue what to get her so she has solved it for us. We have the "YOURS" magazine sent to both the Mums as part of their presents, as they both like to read it.

had SC beef for Dinner and rice pudding after, feel all nice and full now, have saved some for BIL but if he does'nt want any I will save it for lunch tomorrow.

  • Evening all,

Happy Anniversary to the PennyPinchers, hope you've had a lovely day :)

Meanmarie, hope you manage to find some good memories during this sad time... Sometimes it hits you hard when you least expect it to.
Reverbe, so sorry to hear of your redundancy again, and all those others who are going through the same. Hoping that something will turn up for you very soon.
Mustangsal, what a shock for your best friend too. I'm sure she will appreciate the support she gets from you & her other friends.
Betheebee, hope your infection clears up soon too.

Spent most of day Xmas shopping, not that I got loads but have just got to raid Mr T's or Asda to make up a couple of "boys night in" hampers over the next few days. Made a pile of Snowman Soups too so feeling quite virtuous.
Managed to get an appointment to have my hair cut on the spur of the moment this morning, so feeling/looking much better too :)
Also rung up o2 & got a reasonable retention deal, hopefully new handset will arrive tomorrow...

((((((more hugs)))))) for all the poorlies, and those having hard times.
Live your life until love is found, or love's gonna get you down" (credit to Mika!):p

    Hi All,

Just popped on to ask (very cheeky of me I know :o ) if you could all keep your fingers crossed for me as I've found a job vacancy near me that I am going to phone about tomorrow. Its for an admin role for a pre-school, its only 2 hours a day and its mainly home based. Oh it would be so perfect, I really really hope its still avalible. DH is going to work on my CV for me tomorrow, as I've not been in paid work since Dec 03 its going to be pretty sparse. I'm hoping all my volunteer work at the preschool and school will be a bonus????

  • Evening everybody :hello:

Happy anniversary to the PPs, hugs to all who need them particularly taplady and meanmarie, and I'm very glad to hear that mioliere's little cousin is on the mend.

I couldn't face cooking this evening but had to do something about the chicken I bought yesterday which was on its use-by date. The freezer's really full and it wouldn't fit, so I jointed it. It was so straightforward and makes the meat so much more versatile - I'll definitely do that again the next time I get a good-size YS chook.

I have totally blown my reduced budget this week - so much for trying to save a few quid towards some extras for Christmas. I overspent on groceries, got a takeaway lunch yesterday and bought some odds and ends I didn't really need at the supermarket this afternoon when I only went in for a bag of onions :o What's more, next week's budget isn't looking good either because it's just occurred to me that next Sunday we'll be putting up the Christmas decs at church, which means the annual informal lunch at a local pizza restaurant which will add £15 or £20 to my week's spend, meaning I spend the same as I usually do on a week when I'm not trying to cut back  Still I suppose I'd normally have to take something like that out of "extras" money, so I'll still effectively be in credit... sort of.

I'm so pleased it's Friday tomorrow. It's been a long week at work, and I had to do a presentation this afternoon, which I hate. Tomorrow evening I am going to a house party at my cousin's house.

    Love Rzl xx

P.S. I cross posted with you, kiwichick - sending you good vibes for the job :)
