Thursday 11th December

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for DECEMBER 11TH 2008. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all

Frosty here again, will have to leave 5 mins earlier to scrape the frost. Off to work again today, we had our Xmas do yesterday which was great, the food was delish. Had a few glasses of wine, but I drank lots of water, so feel great this morning.

Kiev and oven chips for tea tonight, not very os, but quick and easy. Will also put a wash on and tidy through.

I have not got my tree up yet, might do it this weekend, I dont like having it up too early, and I like to get it down on new years day :o

OH has got hm soup bread, hm cake and choccie for lunch, he is eating sooo much at the moment, I think its because he is working outside all day, and needs the food as fuel to keep him warm

Hugs to the Lesleys, Little one, Catz friend and DG friends, and anyone I have missed

Squiggly Hello

Have good days all xx

The original post was virtually unreadable due to the teeny, tiny font in green! I could read it but it wasn't easy. I did find this "Please be aware that many people may have small screens," rather amusing though.

  • Morning Redruby and all to follow...

Is everyone still in bed then???

Study day for me, though I will be using it to do the large majority of hte last of my present shopping with any luck, and perhaps even some wrapping & card writing. I am definitely more ahead this year than normal which is good too, means I won't be up till the early hours Xmas Eve with any luck!
i'm the same with my tree, it will go up at the weekend (although I've been known to try & take it down on Boxing Day!!!!!)

Also need to hoover the house, get a wash on (though probably not hung out as it will freeze...), and clean the bathrooms.
Definitely a porridge & brown sugar day for breakfast, got some bread wraps out the freezer yesterday so one of them for lunch, and HM burgers in buns for supper. Sorted!

((((((hugs))))))) for all those poorly or in times of trouble...

    Redruby :hello: :D

I’ve been awake since 4am

My cardmaking was a waste of time yesterday, inspiration went out the window and I wasn’t happy with anything I tried so I packed it all away.

We had enough bread to last til this morning so I didn’t make any yesterday, I’ll make it today instead. Four loaves I think, then I can freeze some.

I want to get the decs out of the loft but I can't find the ladder  Mr tru stands on the bannister and launches himself up, lol. I can't manage that, I'm a foot shorter than him. The hatch is in line with the bannister so if I fell, I'd end up at the bottom of the stairs :rotfl: I'll have to wait til he gets home from work.

No ice to scrape today as it is just damp out.
I shall be doing a 'Vicar of Dibley' impression today, we have our school Christmas lunch today & this evening it's my W.I. & guess what it's our Christmas meal today! Boy am I going to be full, lol.
Off to work soon to see what BOW is crying about today (she once cried for 2 days over a bag of pea shingle) & if Mrs Degree is in, I can hardly wait, we are also still doing Mocks & so I'm getting exam papers to print in their hundreds, always on the morning of the exam!
    That's enough moaning from me.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    No frost here today.

We also havnt got our tree up but it will be done this weekend. We generally take it down before New Years Day. Love it when its up but the room looks so clean when it comes down.

Anway, housework today so lots of vinegar and stardrops will leave the hoovering and floors for OH tomorrow probably. Have some ironing to do and a little wrapping. A present I ordered for DD looks like it wont come in stock so need to look around for that.

Have run out of bread so BM will be on most of the day. Roasting a chicken for dinner tonight -not sure what we are having with it though.

    Morning all :rudolf:,

Damp here today... I did manage to lie in today awoke at 2.20am today....., got up at 4am after trasping downstairs numerous times for lemsips/ovaltines..

DH has now got the lurgy, but obviously it's worse then mine:rolleyes:.

Still CH is on, Porridge for breakfast, a concoction from freezer/fridge to t. WM will be put on and hoovered through. but apart from that i can't be @arsed to do much else.

Said on news earlier woolies closing down sale starts today might be woth a look if you passing.

Hope you all have a good today xx
You know your getting old when you

    Is officially 48% tight :D
  • Good morning everyone,

tru I've been awake since 4.40am so I wonder if there is something in the air today? BTW much prefer today's carol to Cliff and Shaky. :D

My neighbour kindly let me know about the waste collection arrangements over the Christmas holidays. For some reason I didn't get the leaflet but I'll ask for one this morning. After today, we won't have a waste collection until 8th January 2009! So, I have been frantically using up all the fruit in the fridge this morning (made a fruit salad) so that I could put the peelings, cores, stones, etc in the food waste. I have also reorganised some foodstuffs so that the packaging could go out in the refuse today. This may turn out to be a good thing as I will have to be more creative and minimise waste - although I do quite a good job of that already compared to many of my neighbours.

W**k today but I'm going to try and nip to Asda before that to see if I can get any of the Coca Cola deals that I read about on the weekly e-mail. I think someone mentioned half-price chickens too (N9eav perhaps? ) so I will have a look.

BM will go on when I get home and the WM will definitely need to go on as DS cleaned his room yesterday so the basket is now full.

Got a YS chicken yesterday so will roast that today and have lots of veg, yorkies and mash with it.

Need to go and wake DS and DD and get the kettle on. After all my hard work this morning, I need a cuppa.

((hugs)) to all who need one and :j to anyone who has something to celebrate. Have a thrilling Thursday. xx

I've also been up since 4, it's catching, don't think continues coughing helped though, I think I've caught the lurggy.
Mince and onions browned ready for making a shep pie for DD2 and OH's dinner tonight, I've made some porrige for their b/fast DH can drop off when he goes to fix the leaking loo in the house we rent out.

Hoping to find time to buy the trees today before having my hair cut at 2.30 as I might not feel up to it tomorrow, don't want to go out as we have freezing fog here.

I have a pile of cards I will write and post today, another tick off the endless list.

Continues prayers for the poorlies and hoping for good newsabout the Lesleys.
