There is a product called Sambucol which is black elderberry extract which is supposed to be very good for flu.
Boots and Holland and Barrett both sell it.
If you go to Boots you could ask the pharmacist if it is all right for DD to take. It is about £7 for a small bottle. I have some in the cupboard but at the moment have been making my own elderberry extract.
More washing due to be hung outside and dishwasher has been churning away.
Cleaned gas hob and tidied kitchen a bit.
Made a third order to approved foods. Getting addicted to them!!!!;)
I tried one of the jars of beans, sauage and bacon last night and it is really nice - well worth a lot more than I paid!!! ( four jars for a pound!)
Happy Anniversary Mr and Mrs Pennypincher!

Took little bear to playgroup this morning and he had a marvellous time. I just wish he would start speaking. He can really let you know what he wants, he just doesn't say anything. He's not shouting or crying either, he is just calmly and clearly indicating what he wants. Last night he wanted his dad's grapes. I had given him a dish of chopped up pear. Dear heart picked up piece of pear, ate it with much 'yum yum' and then handed a piece to little bear. Little bear looked at it thoughtfully and then put it in dear heart's mouth as if to say - you like the pear, you eat it and I'll have the grapes.
Hester - I had a vision of you in a dog collar when you mentioned the Vicar of Dibley which is probably inappropriate.
Need to use up a cabbage so tonight we are having cabbage soup with bacon and carrot and probably barley (because I love barley). I have no recipe but I shall improvise.
I reported the meter reader yesterday because dear heart was too poorly. Still can't quite get over it.
Now I am going to get little bear up for a much needed nap, then I need to get started - ironing first I think.

good afternoon to all. Sorry to hear so many are unwell or struggling, love and best wishes to all.
I was up early again this morning and made chicken pie ready for dinner. It's the first time i ever made pastry, looks ok, so fingers crossed again that it tastes ok.Made chicken soup with the very last scraps too.
I got a load of washing done and out on the line before work so nothing much left for me to do now.I'm off out with friends for mince pies and mulled wine this evening.
I might be brave enough to attempt making mince pies later if the chicken pie is edible.0 -
Afternoon all.
Firstly, ((((HUGS)))) to all those poorly/worried/otherwise unhappy, and to the people the worrieds are worried about (if that makes sense). There seem to be so many, it'd take an age to list all by name, but you're all in my thoughts.
Happy Anniversary to Mr & Mrs PenPin.
I had a job with reading the tiny green type - but that's cos I tend to read the daily thread from a lying down position on the sofa.
Must get my act together and make some bread rolls, or Mr LW will have none for his lunch box tomorrow. Not sure what to do for dins; pizza seems likely, if I remember to get the dough out of the freezer in time.
Mr LW was going to put Yule decs up last night, but somehow we got distracted and ended up playing Baldurs Gate Dark Alliance 2 on the PlayStation2 instead. We don't have a tree, cos there's simply nowhere to put one.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Chrisca50 - my OH's birthday is 14/12, and he always had to have the tree up for his birthday.....so guess what we're doing on Saturday!
Charlie'sMum - maybe that's why they were 60% off?
WS - am glad you reported him.....and that you are feeling a bit better & that you went to playgroup again0 -
Afternoon all,
Not good to-day, it is the fourteenth anniversary of my mother's death and can remember the horror I felt, my father had died eight weeks earlier, neither death was really expected so 1994 was a sad, sad Christmas, seems to have hit harder than usual to-day, hope to be ok tomorrow.
Rain here and everywhere feels damp.
Congratulations to PenPin and OH, have a good day
Hugs to all who are in need or want, congratulations to all who are celebrating, welcome to newbies, thank you all for being my friends

Afternoon all.
Well I don't know if anyone here has read any of my previous posts but I was made redundant for the 2nd time in a month last week and have been trying to time my visits to the shops/errands etc so that I do not bump into someone from my old company as I do not want them to know that I lost the job I so happily went into after my last redundancy .
Well today I ended up seeing the new husband of the other girl in my dept today. I didnt say anything and tried to ignore him and luckily he has very bad eyesight and might not have seen me. I just hope he doesnt tell her that he saw me. She was an incredible slacker and workplace bully and is apparently now in a 20 K job for a large global company (which I doubt she will be able to slack off in and cope with) and I don't want her having thr satisfaction of knowing that I am unemployed now. What Would Bill Buchanan Do?0 -

Still not done much.
Men came to investigate meter reader - two men turned up without warning. Not tactful. I honestly don't think that they will take it seriously.
I really need to buck myself up. I shall look up cabbage recipes from Sto Lat and see what is suggested. I keep buying the dratted things and not using them.
Need to make something warming for dear heart as he is a little poorly. Little bear is completely asleep after wearing himself out this morning.
Hugs to all
Meanmarie - anniversaries can be so hard so I hope you can find some good memories.
Reverbe - your old workmate will soon be the one unemployed. I do hope that something will turn up soon.
