    Part of the Furniture
ive just returned the ladies diesel watch and next signature silver watch

I'm waiting for the mens black D and G watch. Save some money if it doesn't become available but it was really the only thing I wanted before the sale started. Unfortunately it had sold out just before becoming available to VIPs. I was therefore hoping someone had bought it as a Xmas present then decided it was too expensive.

  • I've sent back loads today, followed by lots of childrenswear 18-24months & 2-3 years due to go back on Friday that weren't suitable for my little girls, so if you're after anything like that, they'll have more stuff soon!
  • Those of you who are after something in particular which has sold out - is worth ringing and trying to order it (morning preferably) even if they tell you it is out of stock ring the next day.

Last year after the sale I wanted a particular dress, rang a few times as not all returns make it to the site - and next actually rang me back one day and said they had the dress in the two sizes I had been trying to order and did I want them?

They must make a note or something on your account

Totally agree with pesky2. If we can help keep Next's costs down then there is less likelyhood of costs being passed on through higher prices. It is nothing to do with a bah humbug attitude.

Businesses with high costs / debt are the ones going out of business at the moment.....couriers wont have any work if the same happened to Next, never mind a single returns fee
I would like to correct your statement, we would have work without Next we deliver for many other companies some much fairer, Next are hard taskmasters, they have little regard for the courier and are a very small part of our income. I don't want or expect money for nothing but think cramming huge amounts into a single bag (our company allow them to put 3 to a bag for the delivery price) is exploiting the courier, perhaps thats the key for success in business, exploitation..

It increases their costs....what equates to 'too much' would be a matter of opinion, but must be substantial nationwide. I always use the stores to return goods. I get a printed receipt for each item and it seems to go straight onto my account. If Next have actually asked you to do this then fair enough, but I object to couriers encouraging people returning goods to stick them in as many parcels as possible as this is not due to problems with scanning but a way of milking the system.
I really object to people making comments like "couriers milking the system" another way of putting this would be couriers trying to make a living from a one sided arrangement.
I don't mind anyone forming an opinion and expressing it when they have all the facts
Parcelnet (Next)couriers are self employed, they pay petrol, telephone costs(no allowance to return those calls), they store the undelivered and returned items in their homes (collect from customers, remove from car, store and put back in car to take to depot next day) deliveries are attempted 3 times(3 times some of the above)and all for approx 50p a time, apparently variable by area, some less and some a little more. I and most other couriers don't ask or advise anyone to split parcels for return to up earnings but I really appreciate it when they do. Why, because they aren't just thinking about themselves and Oh will the prices increase!

I'm quite happy with my job, I have mostly considerate customers but for anyone getting a raw deal there's a new group set up with Union membership, PM if your interested, things may improve then for the courier or then again if a fuss is kicked up will HDNL get the contract, watch the prices increase then and service change

Not wanting to single anyway out by quotes, you are entitled to your opinion but felt they lacked knowledge.

  • Sadie - I can see why you take offense at comments like "milking the system" -- we all have to make a living after all and it sounds quite a job that you do -- but I don't think us customers "think about ourselves" when and if we put more than one Next item in a bag - we're just packing it up in the easiest, most logical way! Companies will go out of business -- and are going to the wall -- so it makes sense for things to be done in the most efficient way. Although not sure we think about that when we're packing up the bags! I personally tend to take returns back to the stores as it shows up on my account immediately and it's easy for me to get to a store. Hope all goes well for you anyway ...
  • Just been on the sale listings seems to be a lot of items added today, well I got the jeans I've been after for ages anyhow lol.

I agree . Sending back by couriers is much better. I have done returns to store about 6 times and 3 of those times items were incorrectly refunded(refunded me lower price than i actually paid) , so really not worth the hassle.
Also if you are sending back through couriers you dont have to be rediculous but you can send back in 2 bags rather than cramming it all in one and if they get more money then good for them. Ever thought of the amount of petrol a packed car full of heavy next catologues costs.. i doubt they do that well if you take all this into account.

My last order that came through from Next really ripped the courier off. Next had packed bags and then put those bags inside another bag that had products in too. (does that make sense?). So instead of there being 2 separate bags, it was in 1.
So when i do my returns i won't be putting bags in bags, i will be separating them. The couriers do a cracking job, and i think they deserve the little extra they may get from my returns.
I've done returns to store in the past, and the experience wasn't pleasant. The look on the girls face as i bought them in was disgusting...she gave me such evils. She clearly didn't want to do my returns and wasn't afraid of letting me know. I regret not asking to speak to her manager. I've had items that i returned that weren't credited back, and items credited back at the wrong price. Never have i had a problem when returning by courier though.
Thats my ten penneth worth. So once again thanks to the next couriers-keep up the good work, and happy new year to everyone.

I check on a daily basis and loads of things keep magically appearing.
There were some baby buggies on there when I strolled in this morning - but they have now gone.

Im keeping an eye on the handbags, boots, girls dresses and girls boots.
