There is a list on the useful tips thread and usually the main ones are considered to be ebid and tazbar, but they are no where near as popular as ebay.

It depends what you want really, cheap fees and fewer sales or higher fees and a quick turnover. The fact that you had to ask for an alternative rather shows how well known they actually are.

Yippee! I've got my first potential sale on ibootsale.

At the moment I am requesting payments by cheque or postal order and have just had an email from someone asking if they can pay by cheque.

Can someone advise me how I go about things?

Firstly do I reply via my email address or can I reply through ibootsale, like you could with ebay?

How do you check if it is genuine (the email address is from someone at village-hotels.com?)?

    Any advice appreciated, thanks

I think there are only a couple of users of Ibootsale on here which is probably why no one has responded. Is there a help section on the web site that puts you through to anyone?

  • Hi Ih8Stress - great name by the way :T

You can reply through Ibootsale to your buyer, but to be honest it is easier to reply using your email address as there is no record kept of the messages as Ebay do.

Ibootsale is really just a market stall and then it is up to you to close the transaction with the buyer yourself really.

People often use email address from work so I would not be too concerned about it. However, if they are paying by cheque please wait until it has cleared before you post out their purchase. If you (or they) don't want to wait then just ask them to send a Postal Order.

Other than a bit of spam I have found everyone using Ibootsale very friendly and have had no problems with any of my buyers.

Thanks to Soolin and Numberthree for your replies (you have both helped me in the past, which I appreciate)

Numberthree, can you explain how I reply to the buyer through ibootsale please? I've tried looking through the site but can't find it. Thanks

I couldn't remember so had to go and have a look myself!

If you go into your 'mybootsale' section, under 'selling transactions' towards the bottom of the page is a small table with your sales on. On the right hand side of the relevant sale should be a box with orange writing in. Click on 'Contact Buyer' and that should work

:T Thanks for that Numberthree. When I posted the question the 'buyer' had only asked me something via email, they hadn't actually bought the item so the only boxes in 'my boot sale' were the normal 'items you wish to buy' and 'items you wish to sell' ones.

However, I have just sold 3 items - yipee - and the 'selling transactions' box with the orange writing has appeared as you said. So, it looks like you can only get in touch with people via ibootsale when they have bought something.
