  • It does make you think who exactly was running the place.I think a good management and a reduced number of shops would pull them through.

Our Woolies never really sold much as it is such a small shop. Handful of games, DVDs and CDs, not much choice, kids clothes and toys and sweets really. Went down today hoping to get some bargain presents as really not been able to afford much only to find most items were only 10% off so sadly came out empty handed.

I do hope that all staff do find new jobs soon though x

Woolies product buyers are to blame really, the overpriced junk in recent years, meant that Wilkinsons are now what Woolworths were in the good old days.

Thing is what woolies sell nothing different to tesco!

    Has Woolies closed now then?
Didn't see anything on the news but did notice today that Hackney and Leyton stores were closed today at about 4.30pm.

But surely it is not a day out  I would expect to buy new toys from Woolies, not something that has been pawed over during a family 'trip'.

Rude, just plain rude. Children love to look around toy shops, it's a fact. You will find, in every shop, toys that children have had a little go on, it is accepted ok. Children don't 'paw' toys are you so rudely put it, they touch things like everyone else does. I used to love going to a big toy shop just to enjoy looking around and seeing all the fantastic toys, get over yourself.

the managers arent sure if they will ever get the game in!!!

This is ALL my wife asked for this Christmas so ended up ordering from the states. Whilst it appears that for now Woolies troubles have meant a lack of stock everywhere, it is of course all sat in a big warehouse and once the administators sell all this stock off to pay the suppliers there will be a massive influx of entertainment products in the market.

So, if you don't need this or any other game, dvd, cd as a gift for Christmas I'd wait it out and see what cheap prices the new year brings - I should imagine that whilst there will be a lot more misery on the job front, there will also be a lot more bargains to be had by those who have got money to spend.

I can't understand why Nintendo can't keep up with the demand!!

    They can, but they won't.

Limiting supply (of Wii Fits for example) ensures that demand will be extended and MORE people overall will buy Wii products for longer, as they will be seen as desirable, due to their apparent scarcity.

This will ensure that Wii continues to be a top selling product until the HD Wii comes out in about 3 years time.

This is clearly Nintendo's chosen business model, so that when compared to Xbox 360 and PS3 consoles, which are normally available in quantity everywhere, Wii is seen to be scarce and therefore more popular than it actually is.

They do the same with the DS as well.

The problem with game (and hardware) availability has been caused by Woolworths' demise - there will be large quantities of stock out there in the distribution chain, but they can't be distributed until they have been recovered by the manufacturers and until supply agreements have been made between manufacturers and distributors and between distributors and retailers.

Hence the only retailers who will have stock are those who didn't use Woolworths' distribution arm - this will be the case well into January I would expect.

I do feel sorry for the staff though who clearly have been let down by the incompetence of the senior management.
