Pick and Mix... here I come!!

That's about all that's left in our branch :rotfl:

I'll be happy to see it go if it turns into a Tesco Local/Metro or something

It's not only the staff, what about the poor people who have pensions from Woolies, or hoped to get pensions in the future!

i was just about to post this. Reported on BBC website: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7776113.stm

says woolworths is to hold a store closure sale in all of its stores from Thurday. Not sure i can be bothered to go- all the good stuff will be gone within 30 secs of doors opening. Although could be a chance to get cheap cds & games etc- wonder if they will be reduced though
  • they've confirmed the closing down sales for tomorrow now :( I like Woolies.

here we go again indeed. This thread is to point out that there is a sale, not for sympathy for the employees who will unfortunately lose their jobs.
  • love it says thursday but not the date ie tomorrow!so when is it!

i went to the 'up to 50% off' sale and didn't buy a thing, all the cd's and dvds are still cheaper online than with the pathetic 10% off them they had. i think it highlights why they have got into this situation, they have been over priced for a long time.

if there is anything decent in a closing down i'd go, but if the lease is payable till after christmas and so are the wages why would they sell off all the stock tomorrow?

small sainsburys would be perfect where our wollys is.

They will still have jobs into the new year, and more likely than not they will be offered jobs by the company buying their branch. Retails jobs are plentiful...if they pull their fingers out they can be in a new job within a week.
