No one cared when all the corner fruit and veg shops closed the butchers dissapeared ect when the big superstores took over.
First they closed the corner shop, and I said nothing because I didn't use the corner shop.
Then they closed Woolworths, and I said nothing because I didn't shop at Woolies.
Then they shut the Coop, and I moved to Tesco's Online.
Then they switched off the broadband, and there was no where for me to shop.
Not quite right but hey that doesn't normally stop me.0 -

It does depict the selfish atitude of British people very well though.
They never think of anyone but themselves and never think long term.
And thats how we end up getting shafted all the time.
Its time we started culling the !!!!!!!

Phew....thought I was in for an early cull there but as I don't actually read any newspapers or watch the television, then I am ok!We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

Just out of interest, are their particular brands / shops that people would actually miss nowadays? Let me try to explain what I mean.
I live in Manchester and I enjoy the independent shops, cafes, bars and restaurants and try and use them as much as possible. I'll always chose the local sandwich shop over Subway, an independent card shop over Clintons etc. So I feel loyal towards these independents (as long as they offer good products and services of course) and like to see them strive.
When it comes to chains, and multinationals, there are very few that I actually think I would miss. There's the human element of people losing their jobs of course and it's sad to see any business go under. But I can't think of many that I would be that sad to see go due to a real feeling that their business means a lot to me.
I guess I'm saying that I like variety on the highstreet, and I don't like to see any business go under, but don't really mind what makes up that variety.0 -
