Reason for the title was because I was sat on a plane to Poland a week ago with someone that works for Currys and he said around 19th Dec they are due to go bankrupt/administration, as they cannot repay their suppliers (Sony, Panasonic, Brosch, etc)... as well as a couple websites (eg ukwhitegoods) mentioning Currys being in trouble.

I hardly think some one you don't know giving insider information is a person to belive.;)

Perhaps there is a pre pack administration type plan of some sort in the offing?
Clear the debts, juggle things around and start anew?

True, I'm not trying to stare up trouble or hype. I was just asking if anyone else had valid info to support this. Sorry if I confused the matter

Perhaps these suppliers just won't restock them given the rubbish value of the pound?
(I think I will have a second hand telly to sell soon - one careful user).

Lets put it this way you could make a lot of money or off load a lot of shares on such information and spend a long time in jail for divulging such information if you worked for the company.(if it were true)
So if you ever hear such words from "someone who works their" always think why would this person want to risk thier livelihood and freedom to tell a stranger.;)

    Think more disgruntled employee.

They opened a temporary-looking clearance outlet in Manchester recently, opposite the closed Ilva store on Great Ancoats Street, presumably to try and scape some money back. I'll be nipping in later to see what it's all about...

There are a number of companies on the edge at the moment, if the christmas trade does turn out bad, then they will be going bust.

But in reality the only people who know this are the senior staff at these companies, even then they are not that well informed. It would be very unwise to 'leak' out the fact you might go bust, customers start to run miles, and suppliers get worried and start chasing for money quicker, tipping the company over quicker... it is a nasty circle.
These are my thoughts and no one else's, so like any public forum advice - check it out before entering into contracts or spending your hard earned cash!

I don't know everything, however I do try to point people in the right direction but at the end of the day you can only ever help yourself!
