Because if somebody knows whether or not it will work I am able to take it back which I will not be able to if I use it as you suggest.

I think you're going to have difficulty finding anyone on here who has heard of non-standard size SIM cards
Why not ask Vodafone about this, or take it to the shop to help you with it?0 -

Thanks for your reply.
Vodafone haven't a clue and I purchased it on line from a non technical supplier.
But the Nokia 2630 is not a non-standard phone. It is from their current range and said to be one of their most hugely popoular phones.

Sim cards years ago used to be bigger, but your talking 15 years ago0 -

Thanks but its the new SIM card that is bigger not the existing one.
The question is does someone know for definite if the existing smaller SIM (25mm x 15mm) will work in the new Nokia 2630 which has a bigger SIM (30mm x 20mm) fitted in the phone by Nokia in the manufacturing process and therefore has a bigger SIM space.

I have recently bought a 2600 Classic which is similar to the 2630. The SIM card that I am using is 25x15mm (roughly measured as I'm not taking the battery out) and has been used in several other Nokias with no problems.
We have swaped SIMs around in our phones many times and have never had a problem with the card. Nokia phones used include: 2630, 1100, 1110, 1112, 3210, 3310 and 6100.
That is using SIM cards from Orange, O2 and currently TescoMobile0 -
Could I just ask who has suggested that this might not fit?
I presume from your reply that the Nokia 2630 is still in its sealed pack and you're reluctant to break the seal - because you won't be able to take it back.
One thing I don't understand from this - is if its still sealed and the SIM was put in in the factory - how do you know its a different size if you haven't opened it?
As all the replies have agreed there are only two SIM sizes - a credit card size (about 10yrs back) and the present tiny 25mm by 15mm. There's a lot of knowledge on this forum and everyone seems in agreement that it will fit - it would be a massive error on Nokia's part if it didn't.
I'm off to a client this afternoon - mobile wholesaler - and will try a standard SIM in the Nokia 2630.
Folks sometimes trim SIM cards to allow for use in a dual SIM adaptor or other device - but the electronics element will be the same size.
I will let you know...
Yes it will work - just asked the client and they have just transferred a SIM into Nokia 2630 - its a normal 'housing' according to them and works with any SIM.

Allthatmularky very many thanks for your kind and most helpful reply and all of the trouble you have taken with this.
In answer to your queries, what happened was that when I opened the box I could not find the SIM as I am used to it being fixed in a card. I telephoned the internet supplier’s helpline and they told me that Nokia are now fitting them in the phone during manufacturer and as a security measure they are in a sliding SIM card holder which slides out of sight in the top of the phone and is not immediately obvious unless you know it’s there.
The supplier had been aware that I had purchased it to be interchangeable and during the conversation it was they who gave me the SIM measurements and said it would not be interchangeable. They said that on this basis I could return it but not if I took the phone, battery, or documents out of their sealed packets. I measured my existing SIM from my other phone which is the standard size as are other SIMs from old phones I have.
I have asked for the excellent expert independent help on here because I could not see why it should not be compatible and because I purchased it because it has lots of good reviews, has masses of facilities, looks good and now that I have seen it I am very pleased with it.
Thank you again for your very excellent help. I am going to keep the phone and I will let you know what happens when I unpack it all.
