So, basically, you have typing skills.
Most firms are now struggling and any person working in IT can do this (and most who aren't in IT). Firms will employ their own typers to do this for them
Again, just being realistic.
Tassotti, you may well be 'realistic' but you could certainly be a lot more pleasant about it. Your replies to OP seem quite bitter, I'm not sure why.
Kylle, good luck in London. I too came here without a job as a recent graduate and I've done very well. And my degree was in something far less useful than yours - I was a philosopy student! Like everyone has said, the best thing is to get up to speed before you come here, and preferably have a job to go to - at least one of you.0 -
I would not move to London unless I've got a job. That said it truely is a great place to live and work."An arrogant and self-righteous Guardian reading tvv@t".
!!!!!! is all that about?0 -
Check out the online job adverts for London first. And may be your girlfriend could think about teaching English as a second language to students?

Good luck.0 -
£25k a 'fat' wage? You get that for working at the Clapham ASDA for goodness sakes.
If you have a degree (and I mean proper, not one of these stupid degrees from made up Universities like Middlesex etc) then £25k should be the absolutely lowest you should be looking at. Anything less than that then why bother going to university?
Honestly people, a good degree from a good uni will earn you well in excess of £25k.0 -
That would be a case of there wasn't a recession, firms just aren't recruiting, that said if poster has a job lined up then do it, but don't move to London on the chance you'll get a £25k job."An arrogant and self-righteous Guardian reading tvv@t".

I'd agree with that! No point moving and getting in debt until you have something to pay off that debt with0 -
Agree with the 'get a job then move' camp. Sadly your skills are something that can easily be absorbed by another staff members (normally a designer or even a producer if the agency is small enough) and without experience in other aspects then its going to be an uphill struggle. I'm not saying there won't be any web content editor jobs, but your going to be competing against a lot more people - most people in media are going to be using a CMS of some sort, most designers are going to of created banners etc.
You need to specialise in something thats not easily transferable and sadly the current type of work your doing can be. Sorry if that sounds harsh.0 -
A quick look at Jobserve finds a Web content/Online Marketing position on at £26K in Southwark and a Web Content editor at £30K in Putney and a Web Content administrator for £10-£15/hr in Surrey.0

Err, why move to London? Web design can be done from anywhere in the country. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

Thanks guys your comments are really really appreciated, my eyes are constantly glued to the job sites and thats what got me thinkin about the £25k starting wage, i understand that my skills are similar to a lot of other people but im working hard on them to ensure they are of as high a standard as possible, I will def heavily consider applying for jobs before the actual move because it seems like the smartest option. Like any job I suppose if everyone has the same sort of qualifications and skills it all boils down to the luck of the draw!! Thanks guys again for your input, i understand that the streets of london are most def not paved with gold and particularly not right now but at the same time im sure theres plenty of opportunity for my girlfriend and I, as for my girlfriends future ambitions she understands that it will be a steep learning curve for both of us and more languages will need to be learnt, I will also talk to her tonight about possibly applying for a teaching certificate to give her more options or maybe a masters in business etc in order to again give her more avenues of opportunity.
p.s Tassottis comments really did get to me last nite as I only posted in order for some useful advice and I already know that no matter what my decision is its gonna be hard so I really dont know what iv done wrong there.
Anyway, many many thanks guys!!!#21 Debt Free in 2009 - Mission Complete
