Hi, this is the Daily Thread for DECEMBER 8TH 2008. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning. Seems cool and wet this morning. The garden is still a swamp...
Work today, which includes a physical training session this afternoon, so hopefully we shall be home a decent time. Nothing much else happening. OH got a supply teaching day yesterday, so she was happy to get some work, but the job scene is pretty bleak. All these adverts to encourage people to get in to teaching and there is no job at the end of it!
I have a bunch of stuff to e-bay tonight, so I might get around to that after tea.
Anyway, have a nice day..

Good Morning N9eav, and all who follow ,
well being a bit of a damp night my joints are very stiff, and I am up and about quite early this morning (got fed-up laying there awake so gave in and got up for some coffee) I am off to my Christmas lunch today at the catering college in thanet at Broadstairs.
I have six fellow crafters plus me in my car and another car-load of five so we will be quite a jolly bunch . I posted all my cards yesterday .Good job I make my own as the postage was a walloping £12, but I did have a quite heavy one to go to my cousin in Australia. I made her a calender and filled it with all the photos I took when she was over in September to remind her of her holiday.
Now all the cards are sent and the presents are wrapped I can relax and enjoy the coming holiday. I have two birthdays next week, my youngest DD and one of my grandsons, so it will be a busy time coming up. hence the reason I like to get everything done if possible by the first week of December. I have no more shopping to get and only milk to buy as I have even got my bread sorted in my freezer.
Right well I'm off for a shower and some porridge for breakfast.<<Hugs to those who feel poorly or blue>> and to everyone else have a good day
Cheers JackieO xx0 -
Morning peeps
i woke up on the sofa this morning covered with a blanket  I don`t know what time DH went to bed but everything was switched off except for the tree lights, when he gets up i need to ask him about those. When i woke up they were all doing different things, one set on slow fade and the other was flashing all over the place, i don`t know if DH had been playing with the controls or if the cat has been at them. Very strange.
Well today i need to wait in for the little monsters new bed to be delivered, i shall be taking them out for a walk shortly so that i don`t miss the delivery guy. I can`t wait to see the little oldie on it and i know that it should make him a lot more comfortable, even DH agreed that it was a great idea for him so i was lucky to find the site had a sale on.
I`ve borrowed a little electric scrubber from my Dsis to clean the stair carpet, nothing seems to w*rk on it and its a very tightly woven cream colour so i`ll have a bash at it with some stardrops. The carpet needs replacing but this one will have to last at least another year so i need some elbow grease and lots of good luck!
The wm hasn`t finished yet but the bm and dw have so i shall be off into the kitchen shortly. Hm pizza for dinner tonight and i need to fill the biggest pan with spagbol for tomorrow and then turn half of it into chili. Busy day today but i must get cracking as this is my last day off
Have a lovely day everyone.
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0 -
Good morning N9eav, fizzel81, Nitha, JackieO, Sunnyday and all who follow
Another chilly morning brrrr
Started my pre-Christmas clean up at the weekend - didn't get as far as I'd hoped - well half of the kitchen is done
Work today, need to print out my Snowman Soup labels (shhh!), when I get home I'm going to prepare and blanch my Christmas day veg (potatoes, brussels, carrots and parsnips).
Dinner tonight will be Summer in Winter chicken - yummy!
Have a great day everyone - I'm off to make the packed lunches...Squares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)0 -
Morning all,
Cold here again, I woke cold in the night twice, so I will have to put an extra throw on tonight.
I finished making my cards yesterday, so will sit and write them today and try and get most of them in the post, at least the USA ones. I also need to pop to the bank and pay in a cheque for OH.
Will put a wash on this morning, and hoover through and mop the floors. Minty chops for tea with mash, carrots peas and cabbage yum.
OH is off to work with HM spinach soup, bread, a huge piece of ginger cake, crisps and a choccie bar  , and he stays so slim  .
Hugs to Lesley, Triatain, Catz friend and Little one hope you all had had good nights xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning all :santa2:
At work early again, didn't sleep well cause of hot flushes so ended up just geting up and showered for work. DH brought me in as he was passing so that saved me a train journey and a rather long walk from the station. Got physio this morning and I'm hoping she does some acupuncture as I think this frosty weather is playing havoc with my back.
Forgot to take anything out of the freezer last night for dinner today as I was so disorganised due to BiL popping in and not leaving till late. I think he was looking tio be fed but he got a cuppa and a hobnob as we had just finished dinner when he arrived and he jokingly said "am I too late then" I used to make him a meal when he did that but no longer as it became a habit when his wife was on evening shifts. Ended up with him at me 5 nights out of 7 and if you go to his house you get a cuppa without even a biscuit. Miserly devils esp when our joint income isn't even equal to his salary alone.
Eww, this sounds like a moany thread and I'm actually in pretty good spirits. Sending hugs to all you guys who have problems and don't feel great.
Will pop back on later0 -
Morning all
Not so cold here this morning, so didn't have to spent ages scraping the car. I've dropped hubby at the station with enough food for him & BIL, the job should only take 3 weeks not 5, but it's still money.
Mrs Degree isn't speaking to me, so thats a result, lol, BOW was in tears all day, but I never did get to the bottom of why as I was too busy. I must make time today as I'm one of the few people who bother with her, lots avoid her as much a poss as she is such a drama queen.
I made a lovely bobbly scarf last night & I'm really pleased with it. I shall make a few more this evening. The wool is called Big Ball Funny & it is, lol, it's like a string of pompoms, I'm going to try & get another ball today as I will finish the first one soon.
Have a great day JackieO
Porrige for breakfast
Packup for lunch
Cottage pie for tea if the cooker arrives in time, otherwise it will be the chippy for us.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

List-making day today, I'm going to write lists for everything
I have no idea what's going on with this font:rolleyes:
I have an urge to sort and clean the kitchen cupboards, then I'm going to list what's in them.
