The Compers Inn - Part 11

I don't have kids (yet) but I can only say what I think from my own experience, if that's any good.
I went to an all girls secondary school then after second year (don't know what that is in the new weird numbering system!), I was around 13 ish, I was told I *HAD TO* goto the grammar school. Another all girls school & further away. I got all anxious & moody & really didn't want to leave the school I was already at because I loved it so much there & most of the teachers were brilliant. My parents were told that they could appeal the decision & keep me at that school, however, my placement in the year results meant that I would probably have to go anyway.
I went to the grammar school really dreading it. It was 3 miles away from home & I used to cycle it each day but I found I settled in really well & quite quickly. Some of my friends had come up with me & although we were placed alphabetically in form rooms, so most of my friends were elsewhere, I made new friends & found the teachers & school really good.
It meant to me that I left school with O Levels instead of CSE's & I think that push out of my comfort zone of the old school was quite a challenge but worth it in the end. Not only for the results I achieved which have led me to where I am now, but also it taught me about overcoming difficulties & meeting a challenge head on.

Bella I was made to go to Tesco too, it was hideous! so much noise, thats what really gets me, and every aisle we went down we met a poor lady with a new born that was practising how to use her lungs and doing rather well, and a little kiddy with a squeeky dog toy constantly squeak, squeak squeaking it! If I wasn't completely mad already, I would be now :rotfl:

Is such a massive step that'll affect the rest of her life. It wasn't such a hard choice with my eldest 2. eldest def wanted to go to the good school and quite a few of his mates were getting in and DS2 was having a really hard time from kids that were going onto catchment school so it was an easy choice to send him to the same one as his brother. He has thrived at that school and gets terrific reports and merit referrals. But she's a different kettle of fish. She doesn't try and thinks she'll morph into Hannah Montana when she turns 15
If it was me i would send her to the better school, she will make friends there and her brothers went there and you know they did well....she is still young and plenty of time to try hard when she gets there
