Price Drop in LPG

I feel sure that once april comes in, flo gas will be yet another company going out, can only hope so, yes its a stupid price
what i dont understand is this surcharge stuff, £25 for 500 litres? what difference does it make if you have delivered 500 litres or 600 litres? apart from the guy with the hose standing around for a little while longer..
as we are stuck in contract till 2010, there is not much we can do, but I feel sure once feb 2010 arrives, and i phone to say hey I have found such and such a company about half your price, they will somehow find the ability to lower the price then.
and yes, if we could drive to our local garage, and collect it ourselfs, we can get it at the moment for 49p a litre............
we have also had a warning notice put on the tank! so dont think we can fill it up without breaking the law, its to close to bounderies now? has to be 3 metres away from things, something like that anyway, going to see the housing association monday see what they say about it, sunday sees the last of the LPG being used on baths, I just have not got the umph to phone them up knowing full well it will take a year and a bit to pay the bill.
How many others are like this, but without the support of this web site? and how many old dears dont know that april they can change suppliers, its these people I now find myself worrying about.nothing is impossible, just maybe difficult.0 -
I haven't read the whole of the thread, but have you costed 47 kg bottles?
2 x 47 kg or 4 x 47 kg systems are available. Maybe even as a temporary solution.0 -
Hi, my first ever post, yes you are all 100%
correct with this crap so called company. I too was conned into signing a 2 year contract on 2 seperate houses i own,Promising the fixed price 30ppl then Hiking it to 49.5ppl on my next order. my contract ends in April 09 so woopee cant wait to get shut, this winter i have refused to order any, fitted a woodburning stove and keep warm in one room, cold in the others but sod it, hope this company is brought down to its knees.
My only concern is last year in jan 08 i ordered 600 litres and they filled my tank up to 1200 litres, i paid for what i ordered 600 litres and still owe the rest which we agreed does not have to be paid until i order some more. can they renew my contract automatically if i still owe them money or should i pay up and get rid in April.0 -
yes this is a good question:
If you still owe flo gas money from bills when your contract finishes, what do you do then?????? I doubt very much if people can afford to pay up in one lump sum in this day and age.
edited to ask
anyone know why they put this surcharge on if you only order 500 litres?nothing is impossible, just maybe difficult.0 -

Ermmm ... because they can, I guess!!!!
But the gravy strain will be stopping at the next station (April!!) and I will be disembarking!!!
Anyone know how easy it is to convert your boiler to run from 47kg (approx 90 litres??) bottles?? Just interested if this is an option pre-April (I'm running at about 25% full at the moment and know that I may have to order son with all this cold weather andb a baby in the house!!0 -
I'm in a similar situation too. Currently have about 36% gas remaining and if I continue to operate on my current Scrooge usage, I estimate I'll have 10% remaining mid April.
Trouble is, I'm not sure how long the switching process will take once initiated. Days, weeks, months??
May have to consider 47Kg bottles as an interim measure.
Oh, I hope it warms up soon!!0 -
Ok, sorry for the delay, but have been trying hard to work with flo gas and get some questions answered, here are the replies
1: the £25 surcharge is in place if you order 500 liters, they charge £1 per mile for delivery, they waver this fee if you order more gas, 600 liters or above.
2: the price of just under 55ppl is for everyone they will not budge on this price at all.
3: and the one that I was really concerned about was their end of year financial letters, that they said they send to everyone [?] end of April, if the amount you owe them is roughly £600 or above, they will send out the you owe us such and such an amount, and asking for it to be paid in full, before deliver of another order
as we would owe them still by end of April, if we put another order in now [the tank is zero reading] we would owe them to much come end of April, so they were not willing to delver us anymore gas unless we paid for the next order upfront in cash, or cleared the outstanding balance now [which like most people we cant do £260 odd come this months direct debit going out ]
I told them years ago that my husband is disabled, and there are three children now living in this house and myself, would they not come to another arrangement, I said obviously with the cost of electric going up as well all those months ago, to find another £50 on top for their direct debit every month, the extra outlay is impossible, we can afford the £50 which was fine this time last year, now they want £100 a month, would they not be willing to help us out, and we can clear the bill by giving them extra payments via their web site, now and again over the summer, they said no, pay up or no gas at all sorry.
So thats how it stands with flo gas, they want their money and are not willing to help in anyway, the government have no vulnerable or social tariff deals with them as they had/have with BG and other electric/gas companies and flo gas have not put it on themselves to try to work out a social tariff for those that are vulnerable, they do not want to know. Not nice people at all.
As yet we are still waiting for a copy of our contract, which I have asked to be posted to us.
Now for those that need to know, we went into this further, and it turns out our tank is to close to the house, luckily enough we are with a housing association, who came out to look at the tank, and said if the house went up in flames the tank is so close to the kitchen and front room walls, the whole house would explode, and we would not have time to get out, they said the only option would be to move the tank and the pipe work, and they would have to build a blast wall by the side path at the edge of the back garden, or put in mains gas pipes through to the house paid for by the housing association. This is the option we went for, its now a case of waiting really, as we have no heating or hot water the housing association have to get this done as quickly as possible, this for us is a result
so all I can say to those that are with housing associations or council tenants, check where your tank is, if its been placed illegally, this maybe the best way forward for you as well? But don't quote me on that, and all I will do is, when/if flo gas contact us again, maybe about not ordering gas from them! Or the removal of the tank itself as its no longer wanted nor used, and they want the money we owe them instantly, is court action over the placement of the tank and the danger it has put us in, but as it will be only the £265 or thereabouts, we may just get a loan to pay them of. Not sure yet.
We are now of course looking at what the contract says, as it does not finish until Feb 2010, will they remove the tank before then, or will they say you are in contract and will still have to pay standing charges?
this is the only image I can find for placement of LP tanks, if you copy it, then enlarge it, maybe this will help others?
thanks for all your help, and good luck to all you others out there that are in the same situation as we are.nothing is impossible, just maybe difficult.0 -
Denise 123 - Just a thought it may be worth speaking to the LPG Trade Association - www.uklpg.org. This is the trade association for LPG Companies. I would complain to them about the attitude of Flogas and see what they say.0

I am with Calor gas and cannot wait to get shot of them in April. I currently pay 47.6ppl plus vat (49.98ppl incl vat). I asked them when they would reduce prices and they said maybe march, maybe april not sure....
Customer service is non existant. They shout you down on the phone and then hang up on you. Currently waiting a letter from one of the managers...0
