Price Drop in LPG

I have been on the telephone to Flogas who are my suppliers at the moment. My question to them was what is the present price for LPG at first I was informed that the price was 44,7ppl. My next question was when are you reducing t5he price, and immediatly I was informed that it would be 39.7ppl a reduction of 5p which is good news. I was also informed that there would be a revision in the price in the new year, I asked whether it was in the downward direction the answer was affirmitive. As we know the price for LPG should be transparant and that we as customer's have more information as to regards to price.

I notice the reduction at petrol stations as well...

Ermmm ... that's funny ... because last week Iphoned FLogas (my supplier) and asked when the price would be coming down! After a blazing row (their arguments re: oil prices and lpg etc. are laughable ... they kept tying themselves in knots and contradicting themselves every second sentence) they told me that they would put me on a list for a price review in the new year .. but that or the moment PRICES WOULD REMAIN AT 44 PPL (think that is what I am paying!).

What number did you ring ... I feel in the mood for another row!!!

Cheers!

Chris
• I do realy think we are being ripped off, and of course you would a 0875 number which is costing you at least 5ppm. The phone number I use to contact Flogas is 0116 264 9000, as regards price they should be reduced by 5ppl as of now. As you know you wil be able to shop around from next April for other suppliers.
• We are DEFINITELY being ripped off!

When I spoke with Flogas last week, it was only when I mentioned that I am going to be the first customer to leave next April that they agreed to 'put me on a special list' and review my price in the new year!

Not very 'special' if they reduce it for others within a week!!!

I nearly forgot ... when I made the Autogas argument to them (that being only 45ppl but including road fuel duty etc.) they simply said that the petrol stations could buy in bulk but they couldn't! WHAT! If you read the DCC company accounts they claim to have 20% mkt share of LPG bulk in the UK ... and guess what ... profits are well up!!!!! Surprise surprise!!

Hopefully next April there will be competition in the market place and we will ALL get abetter deal!

PS can you hear my blood boiling??
• It's quite clear that we are all being ripped off by these big energy companies and we will continue to be ripped off by them as this is how our country works. Despite the so called competition commission enquiry very little will change. The goal posts may move, but we will still be playing the same game. The competition commission decided that domestic customers should not be allowed to buy their tanks from their supplier's as there were concerns with the servicing of these tanks. When installed the tanks are certified for ten years and after the ten years then they will need to be recertified. Those who do have there own tanks i.e. farmers and factories cannot get them filled unless they have a valid and current certificate. Motorists who run their cars on lpg/auto gas also have a tank just like us. Their tank also needs to be certified for ten years. After ten year's the tank should be re-certified in much the same way as the domestic customer's tank. These motorist's have no problem getting their tanks filled regardless of whether or not their tanks are currently certified or not. Some would be quick to point out that the tanks that are fitted into car's are much smaller in size and that they hold a lot less gas than a domestic tank. This is true, but they will still go bang when it all goes wrong despite their size. The fact that its perfectly acceptable for motorists to own and in some instances install their own tank's, but not to entrust the domestic customer to the same level is deplorable. I don't even think that there are any regulation's on the maximum size of tank that a motorist can have fitted to his or her vehicle just so long as the tank was made for the purpose. Don't for one moment expect to be empowered in any way by the likes of a competition commission as historically that is not what they are about. They will have the interests of the industry, which is far more important to this country then you or I and anyone else. They will not want to strangle an industry to favor the customer. Keep an eye on the price of auto gas at the petrol stations as this seems to be the best indicator of price. What we should be paying as domestic customers should be a lot lower than the price ppl that auto gas is being sold for, but certainly not more than. You will have to decide at what level the domestic price should be at in relation to the auto gas price. I think myself that the domestic price should be at least 10 pence cheaper than the cheapest auto gas price found locally. This way you should then have a better idea as to what you should be paying for someone living in your area.

Best wishes.
• It just keeps getting better ... phoned Flogas today to advise that someone I had talked to was being charged 39.7 ppl (as per this forum!). The girl put me on hold, and when she came bck said that they would match that price for me. BUT they would need me to sign a new contract!

I told her that Iwas already under contract (signed a 5 year one about two and a half years ago!) and so why did they need another? She informed me that in order to change the price on my account they needed a new contract - even though the current one is still valid!

I then equired why they didn't need me to sign a new contract when they put the price up! Silence ensued ... after the same conversation all ver again for a couple of times she put me on hold again ... eventually returning to tell me that the supervisor would ring me (this was about 1pm today!) to let me know the intricacies ... well I waitied and waited but no call!

They are utterly pathetic ... blatan liars ... and total rip-off merchants ... if they won't reduce my price without a new contract then it's definitely goodbye from m when the new rules come into force in April!

Bunch of ^&(£&(£*&"^$"$"@:!!"}"*!^£ ... they make my blood boil.

Legally, where do we stand ?? Can they really charge whatever they want ?? If they decided to charge £1.50 per litre would I just have to bear it ... or pay £500 to have my tank removed .... seems implausible!!!!???

Rather than ring the call centre at Flogas I would speak directly to the Managing Director - Henry Cubbon. His e-mail address is henry.cubbon@flogas.co.uk.
• Yes ... I picked up his home address on a search with companies house!

As a last resort I would write to him there ... or even better ... phone him at home ... on Christmas day to complain! Bet he'd like me calling as he's eating his turkey!!

Maybe we (disgruntled flogas customers) could all give hime a call ... on the same day ... a co-odinated effort!!!

Just a thought!!!!

I need to pick up the price issue with them again tomorrow ... will post back on here to let everyone know how I get on!!!!
• Morning - my saga with Flogas is that last Dec I signed a new 3 year contract at a price of 33ppl and no surcharge (specifically hand written on the contract). This was after playing them off against Calor who were offering a similar deal. Anyway , just had my bulk tank filled and the bill is for 46ppl. They're arguing the contract price is variable and despite all my arguments they're sticking to the price. Anyway gonna speak to the supervisor on Mon and see how we can 'resolve' the situation. Interestingly, in their T&C's they can change the price depending on market conditions etc but then goes on to say that the customer can also 'negotiate' with Flogas. Took some legal advice - usual thing - T&C's are watertight in court - could mention 'unfair contract terms' etc but from the previous posts, Flogas don't strike me as fair company to deal with. As with other posts , it would be good to hear what other people pay as this seems to be the on eof the more successful ways of renegotiating a new price...
Anyway, hope everyone has a safe and warm  New Years Eve celebration

• I am with Calor Gas and mine has shot up from 33ppl to 47ppl. Having major arguments with them over this and other issues. Customer service is non existant. I had an agreement with them to pay a certain amount each month to cover arrears and future gas. Once they completely lost the details on their system and I had to fax them the original letter so they could re-instate the agreement. The second time, they tried to double my payments after me agreeing a lower rate with them in the Summer.
Roll on April when we will be able to switch LPG suppliers without having to pay to have the tank removed. Will be interesting to see what rates they then charge and how different customer services will be with the competition.
