I have been on the phone to Icesave for over two hours over the last 4 days and yet it still has not been sorted.
After finally getting to speak with a manager today, it looks as it may be sitting in their suspence account, but the have no procedure in place to make the payment to my mother. Apparently the Icesave manager is meeting with the FSCS tomorrow to see what they can do to sort out the payment.
I dont know if anyone else has tried to get to speak with them but it takes forever to get through and they never return your calls.
Hopefully by this time tomorrow I should know when we are going to receive the payment from them.
Update 10th December 2008
Still no payment and we have now been told we are having to use the paper application route. I think the whole process is very poor. What's more they very rarely return your call and you have to then try and get through again, go through the story again and still get no where.
I am not sure who now is getting all of the interest from all of our money, but they sure are not keen on giving our money back to us. I will try giving them a call again today, but feel I am hitting my head against a brick wall.
Does anyone know if their is any organisation who monitors the FSCS?

They've been very good with the majority but very poor at troubleshooting individual cases.
I haven't got anywhere either. I seem to be in this eternal cycle of two departments within FSCS who say the other department is the one that can help as they have details of accounts/they are the ones that send forms out.
It's all very depressing.0 -
I have a number of accounts with ICESAVE. I have been able to claim my money back.
I also hold an enduring power of attorney for my 83 year old mother. Her accounts seem to be linked to mine. When I press the button to start claim on her accounts I get nowhere.
I have e mailed and rang the FSCS. My mother's accounts are not allowed to be reclaimed in this manner. Deposits were made via a linked bank account! They will send paperwork in due course, they haven't done that yet, and I will need to provide evidence of the Eduring poa. This has already been sent to ICESAVE. ICESAVE would not open the account with out it.
It seems crazy that the most vulnerable people in this mess are going to be the ones that wait the longest to obtain a refund of monies. Surely the paperwork should have been sent out by now if they knew they could not reclaim on line!
I had to send details of my Mum's accounts and her name etc. They could not take the details over the telephone!
I suspect my mother will be the last person to gether money back. Lets hope she will get some compensation for this! Not just her money back.
I know that all of us involved in ICESAVE have been very lucky to have been treated so well by the British Government so I'm not really unhappy. Just sad to see the most vulnerable waiting the longest.
In any event I was going to run on her term deposit accounts and was after the easy access account so that Icould pay her nursing home fees.0 -
Icesave messed up my application and did not add my linked bank account details to my Icesave account. I found this out on the 4th October 4 days before Icesave went bust. I immediately printed off a form and posted it with my bank details to Icsave by first class post. The mail should have arrived on the 6th, but certainly no later than the 7th, but I was told it did not arrive until the 8th October 1 day late of the deadline. I do not believe them about the delivery of this correspondence, first class mail does not take 4 days to arrive. I tried to negotiate with the FSCS to let me claim my money back by the fast track electronic system, but they just said no, and were completely Inflexible.
I have sent off the paper form two weeks ago, and to be honest I do not think I will see my money until sometime in Feb 2009; I am very disappointed in the handling of my claim by the FSCS.0 -
I have received only the 1st email. On the 5th I filled the web form as they request, but I note others have achieved some success at being "unlocked" regardless of this, by putting pressure elsewhere.
I had a debit applied to one of my accounts on 10 Oct, I can see only this as a possible reason for not letting me complete, but it's nothing to do with me. I am currently jobless and need access to this money now. Is there light at the end of the tunnel?Friendly greeting!0 -

Just received this email from Icesave in response to my email to them several days ago:
