They reckon UK cards can't be cloned with pin so the actual card must have been used and then replaced back in my purse.
Avoid touching the card. There may be still fingerprints that can be lifted from it."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

Thanks peeps
Unlikely about the fingerprints as the card was later used so was in out of my purse and handled by shop assistants too.
The really sad bit is she must have made note of my number when I've used it when out with her in the past.

No, that just means more fingerprints will have been added, and they can be taken out of the equation later. The danger is in them being wiped clean."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

How awful Duchy...it does sound like the most likely scenario. The worst is the betrayal by a friend I guess.I hope you manage to sort it soon.Even worse that she kniows you'd have helped her anyway.0

Oh duchy, I have only just read about this today, and I am so sorry you have had to go through this, especially at Christmas. It is bad enough having a card cloned, or pinched by a stranger, but when it is quite probably someone you know and trust, that is just awful.
I know you will have to go through the police and everything, but it HAS to be done in order that you can get your money back, and sad though it is, your friend has to take that responsibility. We have all been in desperate situations finance wise and might even have been close to doing things we would not be proud of, just to get by, but I doubt any of us have done something like this.
Anyway, today is boxing day - no double scratch today - one gave me 50p but apart from that, nothing exciting!
We had a quiet Christmas day yesterday, which was fine by us, but turned out to be too quiet for DS who was visibly upset at the end of the day because he had not had other children to play with etc, which made me and OH feel a bit pants. Presents were thin on the ground again, due to the finances and the fact that he is going skiing, so the present pile looks quite pathetic, and although he says this isn't a problem, I wonder whether he was secretly hoping I might have bought a Wii or Playstation or something. He isn't complaining - don't get me wrong - and says absolutely that he chooses to ski, but I suppose a child always hopes for that surprise......and of course it didn't happen.
So, a bit of an "odd one" for us so far - and OH is about to go out to work - he starts at 9 and will finish after midnight...........double time though so it has to be done.
The children got a few vouchers etc for Christmas so they might want to go and see what the sales have to offer. I got an M&S voucher from my Aunt, but I think I am going to put that away until we go on holiday in the summer, and use it to buy some yummy food to take with us. OH and I also got £25 from the in-laws which will go in the holiday fund account I think.
I want to get out for a run sometime today - only 5 miles or so, just to get rid of some of the excess food from yesterday......didn't eat over excessively, but still.....the scales say otherwise!

Glad you had a good day Hypno, my kids were with their day yesterday so "christmas" will be happening this morning. It was a strange day for me, they have been alternating christmas for 6 years now but I found this year partically strange. We are having the full christmas dinner today.

Thanks jenchin - enjoy your Christmas lunch today!
We have borrowed an x box from OH work, but because I am just a numpty mother, I cannot for the life of me work out how it works......I have followed the instructions, got the leads in the back of the TV etc, there is power to the thing but the xbox itself doesn't do anything.
So now, having told DS that he could use this, it is worse than useless and I feel pretty much the same way. GAAAA!!!!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
