  • And has anyone got any ideas about where I can get instructions for cooking Xmas dinners? I've only done it once years ago and I'm very nervous about in laws coming so complete idiot's guide with timings would be great

Get yourself a copy of Delia Smith's Christmas. She gives recipes for everything and timings as to when you should be doing each step. We've cooked Christmas lunch for nearly 20 years and still use it :D

Rach - do you also find it impossible to locate the receipts, forget to photocopy them (HR seem to lose them regularly) and have an on-line system that takes FAR longer than filling in a spreadsheet used to (mind you, at least it does have a drop down menu for all the expense codes, which helps!). My boss keeps telling me to do them more often... my theory is I should do less that involves running up expenses!
ours is a nightmare. not helped for me by the fact DH can't believe how rubbish they are (he is a finance manager!) don't you have a corporate c card?

froddy - how was the play?

Happy birthday to julie and mudbath

  • Hello lovely Flyladies....

Very sad lady here.... My friend's son is being tested for leukemia on Thursday. He's been very poorly for the last few weeks, and they've been unsure why. The hosp sent blood samples to Birmingham Children's Hosp, and they've recommended for him to be put under general for them to test his bone marrow. :(

If anyone is inclined, I'd really appreciate some positive vibes please ladies. It's unbearable to think he might have this disease. He's only 9.

I believe that positive thoughts can help. Sorry, very very sad, and upset.

Flylady_flower - hugs for your friend and you

Oooh, and - happy birthday to you too! :bdaycake:
Better day at work today - actually did something constructive! But, I must now go and fly in the kitchen

Thanks Soappie, she doesn't live local to me (about 50 miles away) and also lives in Florida some of the time, but we talk all the time and skype when she is away, we are pretty much alike so ALWAYS know exactly what to say and how the other one feels - it's like the pep talk you would give to yourself... I think I will have to find out more myself and I know she is looking into it herself - just need to be there for her I think...:A

Oh, and it's not my birthday - just Julie's and Mudbath's and someones anniversary (sorry, forgotten who now...:o )

Bras and tights - that's SICK (shuffles off sharpish before flyladies realise that Valli clearly irons other stuff Flower has listed...)
What's not to like about ironing - the satisfaction of a neatly folded pile of ironing...not bad considering I watched my mum moan about how much she hated ironing when I was a kid...

That must be it - I'm opposite my mum and you're opposite yours - and what EXACTLY from that list do you iron????:rotfl:

Bother, I forgot to post sexymouse, onlineid and Sunnygirl (thank you) your cards all arrived today. If you haven't sent yours yet please put sticky tape around the envelope both ways as sexymouse's arrived open (but they are all there thankfully!)

Mine didn't arrive then lil_me? I put plenty of postage on it, put it in two envelopes (both with your address on) and taped it up... hope you get it tomorrow...
Oooh, and as I go away on Friday (have I mentioned that???:D ) you might be better off posting mine later unless it messes you up, as they probably won't arrive before Thursday will they? (didn't think of that, doh!) and I don't want them returned because we weren't here - can't see them fitting through the letterbox :rotfl: . We're having Christmas when we come home anyway, opening pressies, ect then with the family, so it will be fine and good fun to open everything then too - I'm back on the 27th proper...

Shame about beavers, glad your DS doesn't miss out though and goes straight into cubs...
