Sat crying my eyes out after contacting my vet, who is extremely honest. They believe Megan has doggy dementia (hence the puppy like behaviours coming back inc being destructive, soiling in the house etc) he said it's up to us but believes all the tests, which most vets would encourage but mainly because it makes them money, would come to the same conclusion, she's nearly 11.5 years old and is an old dog. He said when we take her be prepared to not take her home :( that we can continue as long as we're happy to do so but to make sure she's happy too (she was so upset this morning and hiding as she'd pooped everywhere but I didn't tell her off) So I am now sat having a good cry, thinking I just can't make this decision yet :(

Sorry, normal service will resume soon, will catch up with you all later

    ((((hugs))))

Sometimes the best decisions are the hardest ones to make..

Maybe give her lots of love over the weekend and give yourself a few days to come to terms with the fact she cannot be here forever and we let our loved ones go because we do love them, as much as it breaks our hearts.

I have every faith you will know when the time for Meg has come.

With the message system on this site it tell me I have to wait 240 sec before I can send another one and it won't let me send a bbc one, I know this is to stop scammer etc, but is there a way round this? answers via pm if you want!!

Understand waiting for time, but what do you mean by bbc???

Hugs lil_me, how sad... My Mum has the same thing with our old dog Tess - she is nearly 14 now and very old, wee's everywhere unless let out every 30 mins so mum has plastic bags down with sheets on all over the house of a night just in case... The vet has said the same as yours only they're not as good - charged her loads of money for the tests, they wanted her to go on tablets too - £148 per month or something similar to give her an extra few months - I told my mum not to - she is fine in herself, still goes out for runs, etc and I know this sounds awful, but I think when she is ready it is better not to prolong it with the tablets and my mum is upset now, so adding onto my mum's grief is not something I want to do IYKWIM. If it meant her being in pain or not, fine, but it's just to prolong what is happening now I cannot see the point.
It is not an easy choice to make - they are part of the family no matter how you look at it, so I do not envy you... I hope your decision is something you can be happy with and hugs to little megan too...

Huge hugs from me lil_me like the others say never an easy decision but you will know when the time is right. She knows she is loved, the vet sounds very good like he is putting her needs first rather than lining his pocket.

I think you should give her a card as well. Doctors have been wrong and she may make Christmas (obviously you are better placed to know how likely that is). What about having Christmas early with her? The time she has left is precious for you all, go with your gut instinct believe me it will be the right one ((hugs))

Well the morrisons trek was a lot easier than I expected. They were waiting for people at the checkouts. From dropping A&W at school at 8.45 I have been shopping, taken flowers to DH, got home and unpacked shopping all by 10am :D

Just had a coffee and caught up here, now need to decide on what to wear tonight and get A& W's cases sorted so they can stop at Mum and Dad's.

Need to send an email to my mate to see exactly who is going so I can make sure I have cards written.

    Morning all

Posting first and reading after, waiting for Asda delivery.

Cat had me up at 5.30 banging on the kitchen door to go out. Did that, then the dog started so I gave up and got up. Makes a long day.

One load of washing done but hung up inside. It's sunny but very cold and the ground is damp so I don't think it's drying weather. We'll see how it goes later.

Vacuumed hallway, kitchen and stairs. Did spuds for dinner. Cleaned kitchen sink and wiped worktops.

Hope everyone's OK. Off to catch up.
