Soappie - I think you might be right about the moon... the reflexologist mentioned it this morning because I have a cold that I'd managed to stave off for over a month before succumbing.

So be warned ladies AF may turn up early, go on longer and be worse than usual... people may be more irrational/hormonal, more illness (hence all the colds), and as for what psychiatric units will be like tonight I dread to think!

Hugs and prayers for all of you who are going through difficult times. I hope that you can find the support you need here as well as from your family and friends.

My day was pretty normal (i.e. chaotic)... I managed to get to the school for the governors/parent helpers mince pie party, get new front tyres (did my emails while waiting for these), drop back in at home briefly for lunch, go to reflexology and then went into the office due to an unplanned meeting. So I'd just about kept on top of things, and the usual stuff had been carried over. I set off home intending to have a bath and early night...

... then got a phone call from the builder saying there was a problem with my floor... it turns out he has clearly never used terracotta tiles before, so didn't understand how porous they were. I had asked whether I needed to seal them before he grouted, but he said no (I don't think he'd wanted to hang about, as given how cold and damp it is, it would have taken several days). Anyway, not only did the grout start staining the tiles, but he has also managed to get black grout instead of the pale grey that he should have used - so my lovely pale terracotta tiles were covered in black! And he managed to do half the floor before stopping. Even then, the mess isn't confined to the area that was grouted - he's got it on a lot of the others as well.

I managed not to get worked up about it, and told him that as long as he could fix it, it wasn't a problem. So I expect he'll call the supplier on Monday, but I don't think it is fixable (not without taking the tiles up and relaying them, and I'm not paying for new tiles...). I went out and bought 12 bottles of vinegar and a cheap sheet, and have spend a couple of hours cleaning the floor. It's not so bad, but it looks as if there has been a fire at one end of the room and completely ruins all the other good work he's done.

Any suggestions as to what I can do to rescue the tiles? They're spanish terracotta, so extremely porous, and I was planning on sealing them with boiled linseed & white spirit, then polishing them with wax.

Somehow I don't think my plan of getting the first lot of stuff put away and making the rest of the house habitable this weekend is gong to happen!

Just a quick good morning before I go to work.

Warm hugs for all those who are suffering at the moment whether poorly or have family/friends who are. Did some Reiki last night and thought of everyone.

    Morning all

Llamahead - hope the hangover eases soon. I'm a little bit that way too this morning - too much gin last night! What a crafty daughter you have!

Lil-me - I didn't know that about the tumble drier! When I do use mine (which is rarely), I'm always opening the door mid cycle! I shall have to stop doing that

I'd better get dressed. I have Virgin media due to come out between 8am and 12 (why I didn't go for the afternoon slot I don't know! ) to fix the cable box in the living room

Morning peeps - or at least I think it is in my bleary eyed state.

Have so far managed 2 cups of tea and a bowl of cereal with a banana. It is very cold and windy here this morning and I have to go out  . Eye test appt is at 9.50 and as I've put it off since June cant wait any longer as voucher for free test runs out 31st Dec! OH is up and cooking his fried brekky, DD still snoring her fat head off and DS is at his dads. Looks like a trek into town on my own as just remembered the guy is coming to repair the boiler this morning so I will be able to have a HOT rather than warm bath tomorrow morning (my weekend treat) so OH will have to stay home.

Oh looks like DD is now up as sounds like a herd of elephants in her room above me :rotfl:

Credit card statement just checked (and will be paid off in full after payday Monday) so no nasty surprises I'd forgotten about.

Hopefully will be posting cards today lilme provided I can get in to the PO!

    Right better get on

    See ya later

Torrential rain & blowing a gale here, planning on doing a bit more shopping but not convinced looking out the window, maybe the rain will put people off & it will be nice & quiet or is that wishful thinking.
Will have another cuppa then decide xx
