Is there contaminated feed here in the North then?

    There shouldn't be any now.
I thought it was pig feed. Does that mean farmers here have been feeding pig feed to cattle?
Is it only me that is confused?

They usually feed them nuts and meal when milking them. The Irish government has just announced it isn't recalling any beef produce.

Pretani how do you know this?

"They usually feed them nuts and meal when milking them. The Irish government has just announced it isn't recalling any beef produce".

But I was referring to the Northern Irish herds. Have they been fed with this contaminated feed? It was announced on the radio this morning that they had.

"The beef that is on sale in Northern Ireland is entirely safe"
FSA deputy director in Northern Ireland Maria Jennings said: "We know that eight herds in Northern Ireland have been fed the contaminated feed.

"All of those herds have been placed under restriction, which means that none of the meat from those herds will go into the food chain."

She stressed: "The beef that is on sale in Northern Ireland is entirely safe, there is no problem with that meat on sale on the supermarket shelves.

angelapops, Personally I would take extra care of her wording, "no problem with that meat on sale on the supermarket shelves"
  • Thank you Pretani .:A

But I find myself taking the Richard Wilson line every time

    "I DON'T BELIEVE IT"

So that's pork and beef off my menu. I think It'll be safer buying meat from a less industrialised country, if only I could find one.
Now was it organic or free-range?

Nice one Colin. Brown sauce on mine please! Looking foward to NI ham, turkey, sausage, bacon, milk, eggs etc at Christmas.
  • Just heard very intersting radio brodcast on radio 4... Basically it summerised that even if you were to eat this so called contaminated pork, to eat the amounts required to cause risk to your health you'd be more at risk of Heart attack from collestrol than from the PDB's..

I think DRD should remove all food containing Saturated Fat.... It's deadly!! Would be great new for Lettuce Farmers
