OK Sofa, if you've got any nickel free glasses then put the other pair away until you can get to the doc. AND stay away from the PC (says she who's just had a quizzical "I thought you were going to bed?" from DH!) :rotfl:

    Hi Sue :)

I thought the pair, (and spare) I had were nickel free, until I checked the arms again ... there's screws where I thought there was plastic  As for the PC ...erm ;)

A friend who's a nurse thought it might be either dry eye or conjunctivitis (never heard of it in one eye myself), but she also said it could be allergy related and mentioned the books I bought in any quantity as they might have been a 'bit dusty'. Dusty wasn't the word if the last lot are anything to go by  She suggested I asked for a Schirmer test (?), and told me to stay away from ointments for the time being as they can cause blurred vision.

So the books have been put on hold, but they'd have been put on hold anyway seeing as OH is having an op this week. Seeing as he'll be surrounded by doctors and nurses, I might just ask one to have a look in case I can't visit, for the other patients sake and my own.

Funnily enough, one of the treatments for this type of thing is , supposedly, lukewarm salt water around the eye ... but I daren't even go there.

    Thanks for the reply :)

Hope your OH's op goes OK, that's very sneaky to ask someone to check it out in case it's something you shouldn't visit with! :rotfl:

Sorry for the delay ... thought I'd caught up on mail alerts :o

I didn't see a nurse or doctor. I didn't want to go in as a visitor with anything that might be a bit 'iffy' but it turned out that the patient in the next bed to OH had some sort of infection that needed the ward clearing. It wasn't MRSA but OH said it was "full of letters and things and sounded scary " ;)

As the area was disinfected, I felt that I'd be at risk, so my visit was a waving through the window type visit. But I think because of the risk, they sent OH home earlier than usual, but he seems to be paying the price for it now with pain etc.

He's back there today though, so fingers crossed, he'll be ok soon. :)

And I'm nearly back to normal too ... whatever that is ;)

    Thanks for asking ....
  • My Daughter had a really bad cold sore which came back every month regular as clockwork.
I gave her some echinacea for a few days and it flared up really bad and then went away for several months.
Its back now but does not look as bad as it once was.

    How scary is this?

My husband said he thought he was getting a cold sore on Tuesday, which is very rare for him. I found the Cymex that we had in the house and he used it. So I had it to hand.

We've had no physical contact, no sharing towels, nothing like that, and I got it and mine 'broke'. His didn't even break out. Yet we both used it, and cleaned hands, the tube it was in, and everything imaginable.

But thanks for that. I'm going to ask for the industrial sized tube ...

    ... of whatever works! :)

For those of us who suffer from coldsores. Just been into my local poundland and they're selling Galpharm cold sore cream for £1 .Its 5% aciclover which is the same magical ingredient as Zovirax at a fraction of the price.
It nipped my little tingles in the bud straight away!!
(cold sore sufferers will know what I mean)
