Good ol salt water did it for me. Haven't had one in 5 months! I also take 1000mg of L-Lysine every other day. It recomends 1-3000mg everyday but it gets to expensive that way!

There is plenty of info on google if you type "L-Lysineand Cold Sore" together...

Yes Loubie, but would you bet your eyesight on it?
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

    Sorry Loubie.

Sofa, the OP, has a problem with cold sores which seem to be coming quite often around her eyes.

This is quite dangerous, and IMHO she doesn't want to be mucking about with money saving ideas when her eyesight is at risk. She needs to get to a doctors and get a prescription for something effective and proven such as Pencyclovir ASAP.

    I'm with Toothsmith.

If there's a walk-in clinic near you, could you cope with going there? It's only a stop-gap measure, I think ours only has nurses in it but they can prescribe AFAIK, and they don't always get it right (I was told son had one thing but it was actually Impetigo!) but if it's a choice between that and not seeing anyone, it's better than not seeing anyone!

    Good luck!

PS that's for sofa! And you KNOW it makes sense! ;):D

Sorry Toothsmith. I didn't read all thread! The salt thing worked for the ones in the corner of my mouth!

I can't imagine what they are like around the eyes. Heard it can be dangerous tho!

    Doctor - Now!

Thanks Toothsmith. I wished I lived somewhere where I could go to the phone or doctors and say "Doctor - Now!" ... they'd just send me to the back of the fortnightly queue.

But, and I'd forgotten about it seeing as I don't use these things to my advantage ... as my daughter does the job she does, she knows doctors and dentists etc etc etc ... so after this weekend, I'll see what she recommends.

I've had a two day rest and for about 36 hours it started looking better, so I think I'm using the wrong specs, with nickle in them, and using the pc too often.

Please don't argue amongst yourselves about it all though. As much as I appreciate all the answers, I don't want to cause any bad feeling.

    Thanks again, to all :)

P.S. Noted it Savvy Sue :);)

OK Sofa, if you've got any nickel free glasses then put the other pair away until you can get to the doc. AND stay away from the PC (says she who's just had a quizzical "I thought you were going to bed?" from DH!) :rotfl:
