Ask you dentist for a prescription for pencyclovir. (The brand name is Vectavir) It's brilliant stuff. Cold sores can strike here. How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -
My mum recently bought me 2 tubes of Zovirax for £8 something from Costco - I don't find anything that works as well as that - even for the nose!
Is there a generic version of Zovirax availablr now..........its so expensive!0 -
thanks for the advice and suggestions. the wife got me some cymex cream, cause i hadn't read the replies at the time.
i'll let you know if it works, but it brought some relief last night. if it doesn't, i'll try toothsmiths suggestion, then work my way through the others.
thanks.

Tea tree and lavender essential oils work wonders for me every time. Stay away from chemicals, they will just ruin your immune system. And you don't want to be supporting the Big Pharma.0

sorry Maisie, but that one shocked me. thrush? i'm keeping well away from the wife by the way
and if anyone's interested, the cymex is either a slow working preparation, or useless. it's helped a bit but not much, but i don't think it was meant for noses
i'm listing books and filing invoices with the wife's bleaching gloves on now, cause i've got one on my lip too, but that doesn't look too bad - so far
the thought of getting impetago - spelling? - worries me cause my wifes brother had it, and he was in a right state, but that was years ago, before zovirax, cymex and even tea tree oil, but i'll try that too. thanks kavakava.
if toothsmith reads this, can what you recommended be bought over the counter, or should i just ask the dentist?
thanks,
mike0
