New kitten....questions & advice (merged)

Hi all
I am looking at getting a kitten I like the Sphynx, Bengal, Burmese ( have had 2 before ),Singapura ,Egyptian Mau
anyone got them0 -
a friend of mine is considering a Sphynx...they are very high maintenance cats, they need special diets (they mostly have delicate stomachs), they are unable to clean themselves properly (you will need to wash them down and remove the oils that if they were a normal cat, their fur would capture) and you will need to ensure that they are kept warm, this may require clothing of some kind.
Bengals are very vocal I think...and a bit thick by all accounts. There are a couple of bengal owners on this forum, they should be able to enlighten you.0 -
Hi
won't be getting a Bengal if they are really vocal.
Sphynx is my first choice as I just think there is something about them bath once a week little jumper to keep it warm and to be carried round what a life.lol0 -
... sorry but it does not sound like much of a life to me, to be honest it sounds like their breeding has made them weak, sickly and vulnerable and unable to enjoy the freedom and exploration that cats love.they need special diets (they mostly have delicate stomachs), they are unable to clean themselves properly (you will need to wash them down and remove the oils that if they were a normal cat, their fur would capture) and you will need to ensure that they are kept warm, this may require clothing of some kind.0

Sphynx cats leave greasy brown smears around your house
Some friends have some. They have a lot of character though, but they don't get let out because they're too valuable. If they put on too much weight they look grotesque...My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
Those Burmese look lovely but for me the Moggy wins every time. They are beautiful, generally healthier and the rescues have (unfortunately) an abundant supply.
Having said that I still secretly hanker after a Seal Point Birman :rotfl:0 -

that is seriously grim! It actually made me shudder a bit!:D They look like they would be pretty unpleasant to stroke, especially with the greasyness - yuk yuk!
I like a nice robust moggy with a beautiful thick, clean coat personally! As doolally says there are plenty out there needing a home - if you really want a pedigree I second lowis's suggestion of a rescue pedigree.0 -

Is it a Cat or a Brat (Baby) you want??! I do hope this above comment was a joke, if not it's pretty sick0 -
