You can *try* to exercise them lmao depends how stubborn they are but most can't resist playing, whther chasing string or balls or catnip bubbles or da bird!0 -
Believe me, she isn't allowed those titbits, she's just sly!
Well she'd be a nightmare if she didn't have SOME biscuits to graze on when she isn't getting her own way, I don't give her loads and she never gobbles them all at once as she prefers wet, but I don't want her to end up with nasty Felix induced rotten teeth!
I wouldn't say she is completely lazy, she still has her mad 10min dashes, and my 2yo is forever chasing her, but yeah she does need to play more. I think I might get one of those laser pen things, because she goes nuts with light! I just need to shine my mirror on the wall and the reflection has her mouth going and she's chirping away. It's funny!
Well she WAS 3.7, and needed to loose a tiny bit, if I remember she was about 7lbs/8lbs, and is well into the 9lbs now!
I can imagine her looks now if I put some biscuits in a loo roll. She's attack my feet in the night as payback!
I love cats personalitys, even though mine is a bit of a weirdo and stares at you whilst your bathing!0 -

Never thought of that but there again my mind is not in the gutter.
To all who have said about rescue I would love to take on a younger rescue but having 3 Dobermanns I thought a kitten would be better my older dog was brought up with a burmese

The lazer pens are great! I'm wondering (But not sure) if feeding Felix type food makes her hungrier? Felix/Whiskas is like McDonalds for Cats (Not trying to have a go as mine was on it almost all her life) i'm wondering if Cats are like us as in if we eat junk we're hungrier than if we eat healthy foods? Tho i'd imagine she was fed the same before & it's more likely down to being spayed.
If you want to give her dried i'd definitely make her work to get at it! My old Kitten we had a spider on elastic we tied to the door handle & he'd pull it down to kick & kill it but as soon as he released it it bounced high in the air so he'd have to jump about to get it again!0 -
Remember you can get a kitten from Rescue, there's normally tons needing homes. I'd be more worried with a small kitten around Dogs but if the Dogs are Cat friendly then they should be ok but could see a Kitten as prey. You know your Dogs tho & whether they're likely to. As I explained, the way you said what you did looked like you wanted a baby substitute not a Cat.0

Yep she's indoor, I live right next to a main road and technically I'm not supposed to have a cat in my flat....hey ho! My next door neighbours don't care, they have one too and so does about 30% of the building, some people even have dogs!
She likes those dangly furry things on the rope, I bought her a new house with scratching posts attached and toys on it, she barely gives it a second glance, she likes string too. I think I'll take a trip down to Pets @ home and see if theres anything to get that big bum of hers moving.
I quite like the look of this or something similar - http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/cats/cat_toys/miscellaneous/13546
She likes playing with earbuds that fall under the scales at any rate!0 -

Felix and Whiskas is all she will eat unfort! I tried her on that 70% meat stuff from P @ H and ended up giving it away, she was leaving it to dry and go mouldy in her bowl!
I do have hills science biscuits for her, to compensate for the wet !!!! she eats.
Well the cupboard where her food is kept dosen't have a handle, it's more of a utility room, so you just push it open, but it's never closed because her litter box is in there too.
That spider sounds like a good toy, she'd like something like that I'm sure, just got to watch with her because she will chew ANYTHING, caught her eating tinsel, those wire snaps that hold toys to the boxes at Xmas, hair bobbles....0 -

awww she sounds lovely! Yeah I got mine something from the pet shop, 90% meat, she looked at me like !!!!!! is THAT?! It did actually smell gross lol. I've seen the spider in the local pet shop i'm sure, there's all kinds now but you can make toys too & sting etc is always fun! I roll up newspaper for mine to chase. She sounds lovely0 -

may i recommend a toy called Da Bird for all cats who need exercise. it is just brilliant at getting them moving and driving them bananas. it is not your regular 'feather' toy, these are pheasant feathers, strong and long and tied in such a way that when you pull them through the air on their string, they make a 'flutter' sound.

i have two old cats - 13 and 14 - and they turn into kittens again when i get this toy out. one of them gets very fixated on it so i have to be careful with him as his only focus is the feathers - everything else around him disappears and he runs into things etc just to get at the feathers. it's funny, he is not an outdoors cat and has never been on contact with real life birds - yet feathers and a bird-like sound set him off!0
