  • yeah, its not like she was breeding cats to make money as she had rescued/taken on the pregnant mum... so you have got a kitten that needed a home and not encouraged breeding! :T

Hope the lady gets the cat speyed now though!

Have you brought him home today?

She says she is speying the Mum cat as soon as she can - she has 7 cats already so she doesn't want any more, she has enough dead wildlife brought home to her already she says, lol. Her front door was plastered with RSCPA and CPL stickers bless her :)

Well - from that description she does not sound like she is likely be be breeding mogs for money - good on her! and good for you on not supporting breeders!

Yeah I've got a week off work next week so I'll be taking Mike for his injections then.

I put him in his litter tray and he started eating the litter! He'd just had half a pouch of kitten meat too. What a weirdo :) He's fast asleep and dreaming now so we're going to see if he'll wee on newspaper when he wakes up, fingers crossed!!
  • Aww, Mike looks gorgeous:D Does he get on ok with Philip?

    Great names by the way.

Lol thanks, the names make me laugh all the time :)

Phillip was a bit wary and annoyed at first but in the last couple of hours he's been flipping and rolling all around Mike trying to play with him. He is being a bit too rough though, he hit Mike really hard on the head but he isn't using his claws or arching his back so I think he just doesn't know how gentle to be? Mike is very brave about it all though bless him.
  • i have 2 cats that live indoors and occasionally go out for a wander as long as you leave some dry food and water down and are prepared to clean out the cat litter tray regularly theres not a problem as far as i can see most cats seem to sleep all day different story if it was a dog
  • We're just about to rehouse an old cat and work similar hours to you. We're going to get a cat flap fitted in our patio doors - expensive! - so she can go out when she wants to. If your garden is enclosed/you live in a quiet area, I'd recommend you do the same.

She sleeps most of the day anyway, but I think it's only fair that she has the option to go out during the day.

Much better to get a cat than a dog in your situation, as felines are much more independent and can stretch their own legs!

So, get a cat flap and enjoy life as a cat owner!

My fiance and I wanted a kitten 3 years ago. We tried the rescue kitten route, and we also encountered serious problems because we worked full time. (We also rent). We ended up with a pet shop kitten (mongrel) who cost a fortune and was out of season so he was the only we could find. He is horrible and bad tempered and I love him to bits. (Sometimes he's nice!) He is tiny so when he hisses at me I like to pretend he is purring... ;) We could not imagine life without him and when we move to another country in the next couple of years he will be right there with us.

we did exactly the same, CPL wouldn't let us have a kitten as we were both working full time, RSPCA said they'd be happier if we'd take 2 kittens (but didn't have any at the time).
We eventually ended up with a farm kitten (semi-feral really), and less than 2 days after having him, he had cat flu and pneumonia.
The vet couldn't say if he would pull through but he did after 10 dreadful days.
We think he was so ill that it screwed up his brain, he's crazy.
On top of his early illness, he was hit by a car 5 years ago.

At the end of November, he came home and his back legs wouldn't hold him up.
Straight to the vets, they X-Rayed him but couldn't find a reason for his problem.
He's still limping slightly on one of his back legs, we think he'll always have joint problems.
Last Tuesday he came home with blood dripping from the side of his neck.
1st thought - he'd been shot, 2nd thought - he'd caught his neck on barbed wire.
Straight up to the vets, they found a toothmark in his cheek muscle (which was why it bled so much - the vet's hands were covered in blood).
He's struggling to understand that he's now a senior cat and is too old to be out fighting.

Although he was 'free to a good home', he's cost us a fortune over the 8 years we've had him.
He's cranky, demanding, hates strangers, will only have fuss made of him on his own terms, is a phenomenal hunter (and eats what he catches) - but we love him dearly.

    Mike looks so cute.
