So I was looking on the websites that sell kittens and the prices are ridiculous!!! Like up to £200 for a kitten that isn't pedigree, and pedigree kittens selling for avg £350! Does anyone actually pay these prices?
I do:embarasse We paid £300 for our female Bengal and £400 for the male. He was origionally £650 but they reduced the price as he was 6 months old and apparently has a small tarnish on his coat. We've had him since Septmber and still can't find the tarnish! he looks perfect to us They are both worth every penny we paid for them, they are such beautiful cats.
Anyway I digress, good luck with finding a new kitten, they make great pets.0 -
Good luck today & remember, if you find a rescue you won't be coming home with him or her today, so don't get too excited about actually bringing one home right now, but I do hope you find one at a rescue.
I put off getting a Dog until now because I was always in rented accommodation & thought that even if my landlord said yes, if ever I was evicted, the new ones may all say no
However i've now been with the council three years & decided to ask & they said yes! I went to the RSPCA first who said no as I don't have an enclosed garden  & 'that's how Dogs end up in rescue' -obviously never heard of a lead!- but I didn't give up & the second rescue had just one Dog in that would be suitable for me & I went to meet her & she is perfect
I just took a letter from the council saying they give me permission for one Dog & that was good enough, I told them why i'd waited until now & said of course they could call the council to be sure it was genuine but they were happy with that & that i'd waited until being in a permanent home to get her.
If you're near to Leicester I can tell you where I got my Dog, they have many Cats too & many beautiful kittens, I fell in love with quite a few! I think you might be abit further away though? My Own Cat was born at the RSPCA & homed @ 7 weeks & her new Owners who had her before me decided to rehome her at 23 months thru a shop window advertisement! The contract clearly stated if at any point they could no longer keep the Cats they were to return them to the RSPCA.
Anyway, i'm not complaining, I got two beautiful Cats out of it, both were 23 months old, Brother & Sister. Unfortunately the Brother died after we'd had him six months, he wasn't quite 2.5yrs old, but I still have his Sister almost 9yrs on & she's the most wonderful Cat going.
I wish you tons of luck today, let us know how you get on (When I called the RSPCA about a Dog, they were fine with rented accommodation, so should be for a Cat!)0 -

I'm going to the rescue centres first, if there's no joy there then I'm going to the vets/pet shops. If not then we'll wait til it is kitten season I suppose?
The next challenge is making sure the meeting between Phillip (our cat now) and the new kitten goes well, I've been on so many websites getting hints and tips about how to introduce them. I'm turning the spare room into a kitten heaven (because Phillip never goes in there so hopefully he won't take offence at his scent being covered up:p)
Phillip is a mongrel cat too and he destroys the place (climbs curtains and scratches the sofa even though we play with him LOADS and he has a huge scratching post tree bed climbling thing) and is very moody - even though he is neutered! But I wouldn't have him any other way:D
good luck - it's worth it - although Phillip might be jealous!0 -
I got a kitten :j
The RSPCA didn't answerso I phoned the CPL but they didn't have any so I went round to the vet and they gave me the number of a woman who had rescued a pregnant cat and had some kittens left....so round we went to meet Mike! So I have kind of rescued one...haven't I?
He's black and white (like the Michael Jackson song...get it...Mike? Heh) and soooo tiny
Phillip isn't very happy about it but he isn't growling or puffed up so hopefully he'll get used to the idea.
I've already taken millions of photos so I'll post the best one in a while when I work out how:p0 -

I'm picking up my exotic blue colourpoint later this month for £300, so yes people do:o
BUT when you think thats £200 more than a moggie, if you average that out over the cats lifetime its nothing.
In fact when you compare it to vets, vaxs, speying, flea & worming, its not that much either.0 -
Would love to have a cat but it's very difficult to find rented accommodation which accepts pets and even if/when you do you don't know if/when you will have to move out and what the situation will be in the next place, so it's out of the question."The happiest of people don't necessarily have the
best of everything; they just make the best
of everything that comes along their way."

yeah, its not like she was breeding cats to make money as she had rescued/taken on the pregnant mum... so you have got a kitten that needed a home and not encouraged breeding! :T
Hope the lady gets the cat speyed now though!
Have you brought him home today?0 -
He's 8 weeks old but he's very small! Apparently his mum is a small cat so he won't grow very big.
When we were looking for a new house, there were lots that said "no pets" but when we said we had a young cat they were fine with it, so it's worth double-checking on the houses that say "no pets":)
Anyway here he is!
