I watch very little tv nowadays, through choice as not a lot appeals to me. But I love footy on the BBC, no adverts, no lose of momentum within the game. When shown on advertising channels and even BBC3 & 4 theres too much interuption, I find it frustrating that play is lost while we have to be told to eat cheese strips or I can swim at certain times of the month! On BBC3 & 4 they interrupt any program on the hour with 60 sec news bulletin. The we return to the match to find a goal has been scored or offside and the whole game is ruined.

At least it's just on for a couple of hours at a time.

It's better than dawn to dusk tennis during Wimbledon, leaving little else for people who hate tennis (me!). Even when it's raining, they don't put regular programmes on, they just show old tennis matches - grrrr!

What are you going to do in June/July when both BBC1 and ITV will be showing the world cup?

Oh yes, I will be taking a week off in June, for the World Cup AND Wimbledon - digi box is superb with the extra channels.

maybe it is time to get rid of the Telly.

I have been telly free for a number years but rarely miss it. And I can cheat and go up my mums for a fix if I really need it. LOL!!!!!!!!!!

Yes people think you are strange. But think of all the money saved. No more licence to be paid for and no keep buying new Tellys ever few years.

So it has saved us £700 just on the licence alone as we have been telly free for last 7 years.

Lets face it football was only invented to get the riff-raff off the streets on a Saturday afternoon so that the better classes could do their shopping in safety :D:D

I would suggest that EVERY programme appeals to a minority of viewers.

Is BBC 1 bigger and better than 2, 3 or 4? Is it so important that the biggest, best, most popular programmes are on BBC1 and the less popular programmes on 2, 3 and 4 respectively? Or do you have a TV that you tune with a dial which is difficult to retune?

Football entertains some but not all people, soaps, reality shows, talent contests (whether you watch them or not) also entertain some people, they don't inform or educate!

I would guess that over any recent period the BBC have shown adverts for Fame Academy/Strictly Come Dancing/"Celebrity" cr*p each lasting in total longer than the live football shown in the same period! Likewise the bits between the Local and National news where the screen just shows "BREAKFAST" or similar or the long introductions to programmes simply telling you what the programme is!

    Live football doesn't come close!

If BBC1 isnt the biggest channel then theres no need to put football on this channel all weekend.. they have 3 others......... but I think those are for repeats, and repeats of the repeats........
  • You should always be glad when the TV schedule is full of programmes you don't like because you can do something more interesting instead. Listen to the radio, read a book, go on the internet, talk to other members of the family, watch a DVD instead, learn to play a musical instrument, turn the TV off and enjoy the peace and quiet, think and just be thankful you don't have to watching mind numbingly stupid programmes on TV. Personally both games were most entertaining and not a big football fan.
  • I don't understand how people do watch it, and I think a lot of people are getting their lives together, and doing things that are more interesting. I would much rather listen to James Whale than watch Fat Club, or Come Dancing.
