Gemmzie, I can't really think of a way out, he's your dad and despite it all I dare say you love him and you don't want to leave your mum in the !!!!!! or I'd say move out and think of yourself for a bit. it's difficult though.

It's not harsh, you're right. I just wanted to start getting them out of the hole so they could manage it themselves in the future.
I think it's the low likely-hood of that future that makes me worry more, I have no idea how long I'll be stuck at home for and that really is the way I feel about it now. Stuck here.

No no no...you are not there to look after them. You have your own life, and your father's emotional blackmail does not change that. If you get out, then you give your mother somewhere to go, whereas now she has nowhere.

Then he'll run up debts again, this is a man who somehow ran up nearly £30k in eighteen months on nothing tangible!
We nag, he sulks, he stops sulking, we all play nice, we nag etc. It's gone on too long, he won't listen.

I'd really love to but that's just not possible, I can't afford it for one, but mainly, I can't look after myself. I'm sick 80% of the time at the moment and would just give up totally if I was on my own, I only fight on for my mum's sake.

Right now he has a free ride with handmaidens waiting at his hands and feet. Pandering and appeasement has not worked.

On top of that, he's meant to be buying a new phone on Sat for approx £60 so he can swap his £35 a month contract to a £10 one, huge saving over the year. So he should have been keeping the £40 towards that and now he'll expect the normal money in his account tomorrow PLUS the £60.

Time to dash his expectations. No money in his account - you buy the phone. Every time he wants tobacco, point to the bottles. Keep them even if they're empty so you can point to them.
