Browntoa, post #4 needs editing. The bleepingcomputer link for the old Merijn's HijackThis version is dead and anyway, TrendMicro's HijackThis is now well established and works in Windows 98/ME/2000/XP/Vista.

p.s. I really wouldn't mind seeing the name Ewido being retired for good. Also, maybe it's time to consider consolidating all the spyware removal programs into the one program that seems to pick up everything plus all the spyware others miss, SUPERAntiSpyware. It'd be nice to see the XP SP1 link being replaced by a link for XP SP2 too... I guess I'm trying to say, the guide has been a life saver for many MSErs but it's getting on a bit.

Oh, I never got to see the updated version of the guide and thought the current version was how it was before the crash. My bad :doh:

I had this 007 guard bug on my computer.I used Super Anti Spyware and that seemed to do the trick.Then I used the Trend Micro online scanner overnight and when I logged on this morning that had also found malware.My computer now seems to be running fine.Just as a precaution I will now run SpyBot

Looking for some help with the process detiled at the start of this thread please.
I have got to the stage where i switched to safemode start but on re-start half my screen is missing. The whole displat has moved to the left and i can not see some of the desktop icons or the start button etc on the LHS??? its as if its all moved across half a screen to the left and no matter what i do i cant seem to get it back?
There is probably something in the settings etc but i cant see it anywhere... has anyone any ideas please. I had to do a system restore to get back to full screen.....
