Wouldn't worry too much, I'm sure most of the tracking cookies are harmless as I find superantispyware is very cautious, which may be a good thing as I think in this case getting rid of some false positives won't actually do any harm. But it does seem better than some of the other antispyware.

I've just run the others as well, and Adaware came up with 10 tracking cookies and 2 "critical objects", while spybot came up with something I forgotten the name of...

The other day AVG detected and isolated three viruses - after I visited some dodgy sites looking for funny pictures to post here (no, not naughty sites of course but they had link to those...).

That said, I've never had functional problems with my lappy, but I like to keep the cobwebs out of it.
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.

    Of course they weren't ;) .

Well better you detect them so you can get rid of them than letting them sit on your pc unnoticed.

Probably best starting a new thread. Do you know for sure that your copy of windows is legal?

Do you have an original disc and a certificate of authenticity sticker on the PC? Where did you buy it from? Was it new? Was it a one man band that sold it? What version of Windows is it exactly? (Right click properties on my computer).

Then you shouldn't encounter any problems in going through the process it asks you to with Microsoft to confirm it's legal. They should be able to reactivate the serial key.

Great post Browntoa - many thanks!

Noticed that since I last read this post that "SuperAntiSpyware" has been replaced by "Ewido" in your list. I just wondered what the reasoning behind this was, as I had used Superantispyware previously and it found spyware that Spybot had missed. Is it redundant if Ewido is used instead?

I've just installed Ewido and assume that for routine maintenance it's best to reactivate the Resident Shield and Automatic Updates?
