Point taken. Of course £1000 is a lot of money, but if there's no option to deposit or even part withdraw, that extra few percent guaranteed for 6 months isn't worth much.0 -
I called them just now and was told that so long as you have the 5.51% application form, you have until the end of close on the 15th to get the cheque and form to them. I was also told that no more deposits would be allowed after the initial deposit.0

Thats interesting. I wonder where the people who applied online stand?
I may have to call them myself later as they still have not replied to my email.0 -
I noticed that their issue 2 account is postal only, where as the their issue 1 is accessible by post, branch and agency.0

'Online' applications are pre-completed forms either straight to your printer, or sent out to you. I imagine these latter ones are what you had in mind. Then I must also assume that Manchester BS will have sent the last of these out on Monday and are asking for their return by the following Monday - which should be sufficient time (Also, whatever the form says for the 'opening investment' amount I suspect they will cash a cheque for any amount actually sent in time. Definitely worth checking with Manchester if you have not yet posted your form)Thats interesting. I wonder where the people who applied online stand?

I doubt that it's helpful having other access options besides postal, if you live down south though. They only have one branch, in manchester and all of their agencies are based in the midlands.0 -
I'm about as far south as possible so everything would have to be on the telephone (I'm not good with accents!) or post.
I may phone them and see what the situation is.0 -
Well I made a phone call (oh God!) and they sounded about as disinterested in it as I am in giving my money away.
It was a bit like getting blood out of a stone but they said that
(1) yes - if we applied for the original issue we would be entitled to it
(2) get our applications sent back ASAP
(3) now the account has been withdrawn the initial deposit would be the 1st and last we could make on the account
:rolleyes:0 -
Ah fair enough then. I'm not too bothered about that though really do prefer web access.0
