Not sure what the deal is with university parking - i was a student here but have since graduated.
Ignore?
No worries, even if you had contravened a sign, still ignore it.

Hey guys just want to get your advice on this one. i work for a organisation where there is parking on site for all staff. one day i parked perfectly safely on site but not in a marked bay. have done so before with no problem, however on latest occasion i got a private parking fine. as per advice on here i've ignored the ticket completely. 4 months later they've (Roxburghe debt collectors) written to me asking for me to pay £75 or 'we may commnce court proceedings against you'.
apparently they got my details from the dvla. do i need to do anything? just over a year ago when i was new to my organisation and i parked w/out a ticket, i got a ticket and paid it (i wasn't part of this forum then else i no way would have paid!). is there anyway they can trace me or something?
ta! xx
just to update you on this, since the aforementioned letter, i got other letters on:
3/9 - get in touch in 7 days else we'll pass the matter on to graham white
16/9 - notice of intended legal action from GH. basically a 'if you don't pay in 14 days we'll put all these additional costs on (making £207.25)
4/10 - final warning from GH. basically a 'pay us immediately or we'll refer the matter in 7 days'.
WELL BL**DY DO IT THEN! :rotfl:0 -
Hi My son parked briefly at Harry Ramsdens (Exeter Services) on 19th Oct on his way home to Warks from Cornwall. He didn't see any notices about charges and didn't intend to stay long anyway. He felt tired and took the advise of the motorway notices: Tiredness kills take a break' He fell asleep, his mobile phone battery did so he had no alarm to wake him from his 'power nap' of 1 hour and ended up staying from 0:48:28 to 05:42:03 - i.e. 4 hours 53 mins according to the 'Parking Charge Notice' issued. We ignored the letter as advised by members of this forum but now have received a 'Legal Action Pending' notice for £120.00. All these letters look unprofessional - almost like they've been printed/copied on a cheap home printer. I am getting very nervous and have decided to offer the £8.00 that would have been the original charge had my son been aware of it, the last paragraph of the letter we intend to send with the payment: 'I am a law abiding citizen who made a simple mistake at a time of emotional stress. I was not expecting to stay as long as I did but I was obviously more tired than I thought. It seems that road safety has to take second place to corporate greed - I hope that this is not the case.'
Will this do the trick? Should we continue to ignore the letters? Or is the £120 charge valid?
Help - I'm beginning to panic!0 -

Don't pay them a penny and keep ignoring them. That £120 "charge" is not valid. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -
Thanks Tris - Sorry to be a whinge, but are you sure I shouldn't even offer the £8.00? If they did pursue it further, at least we could show we'd tried to do the right thing?0

Be assured they won't pursue it further. By the way, what's the name of this parking company? we like to name and shame on here. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -
CP Plus Limited, PO Box 599 (not evn proper address!), Borehamwood, WD6 4ZL, tel:020 8736 4040 (found on Saynoto0870.com, which also recommends ignoring all letters!) - you have a copy of a CP Plus letter on the forum already. They are really shoddy and look totally unprofessional - my son feels they ought to be ignored on that basis alone!0

By offering the £8 it could be seen as you admitting being the driver. I believe Exeter is CPplus? Ignoring them is the best tactic.0

Ignore, ignore, ignore some more.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why then you're as thick and stupid as the moderators on here - MSE ForumTeam0

Sending them £8 will only encourage them to pester you for the rest. Ignoring is the way to go.0
