Patrick Troy has now written a letter to the Sunday Times about its recent feature on private parking companies. He denies that the chequered borders on private parking "tickets" are designed to imitate official ones. His excuse is that they are there to make them "more visible". I suppose it's just one big coincidence that the PPCs use the same colour combination as the police and councils. The PPCs could have chosen a different colour combination, I wonder why they didn't?
One other little gem from him. In denying that the BPA is just a cosy industry club he says that Mobilise (the disabled charity) is a member of the BPA. So now we know why Mobilise tow the PPC party line over private parking issues. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -

Wasn't it Patrick Troy whom said that his tickets didn't look like the official tickets, the official tickets must looks like his on Watchdog?
Or was that another one of the vultures?0 -

Same man. He also admitted to a parliamentary committee that private parking tickets are virtually unenforcible. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -
Wasn't it patrick troy who said that ppc tickets were virtually unenforceable in front of mps ? They are trying to legitimise their organisation by having mobilise ppc as members !
Troy and Dolphin, a match made in ppc heaven, they will announce soon that they are having a love child born with a chequered banner around its headExcel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -
Got a parking ticket from Excel yesterday and - like a lot of people on this thread - was about to pay, but now having second thoughts. Took my 91-year old mother Christmas shopping and thought I was okay with a Blue Badge. Mum went back to sit in the car while I was packing the shopping and was kindly presented with the parking ticket in person by the Excel employee. Happy Christmas or what? Faced with paying £40 put a damper on the day. However, I am a bit of a "scaredy cat" and not sure if I have the courage to ignore this fine. Please reassure me someone.

It's not a fine, it's an unenforceable invoice. Just ignore it - it's not hard to ignore junkmail.0

I recently used a private car park where I bought a ticket but unbeknownst to me, when I put it in the car window it was upside down. So I have been fined £60 by Armtrac, they have also sent a photograph of my car with the ticket facedown. Should I pay this? I wrote to them and sent a copy of the ticket but they said that as it was facedown it was void. Any advice?0

You have NOT been fined!! Only ever take seriously a real penalty from the Council or Police.
This is a scam (bogus ticket).
Stop thinking of it like it's a real fine that will go up - there is no fine, it's a made up amount these scammers want you to pay, stop taking the bait and writing back to them. Would you reply to a series of phishing emails? No, so consider this the same sort of scam, and extortion attempt you must IGNORE.
We deal with these queries every day and everyone who ignores these fake parking tickets just gets sent debt collector letters then the whole scam stops. On the odd occasion there's a phone call or two if the debt collector can get a number for the registered keeper - but they can be told where to go as this is NOT a fine, no debt, no case to answer, no Bailiff, no Court and no CCJ.
There is so much info on the internet about private parking tickets - and this scam has been covered on Watchdog TWICE already this year - so please don't think that it's just us saying to ignore it.
Don't even think about paying or even writing to them again!
The whole MSE parking board is linked below, there are hundreds of current threads just like yours, with everyone ignoring the scammers! Happy reading, you'll find a Watchdog youtube clip on a top thread (shows a legal expert making a PPC bogus ticket like yours, complete with photo of a car, into a paper aeroplane). There's also a couple of important top threads by Crabman, one gives you pictures of the exact letter-chain of threats the company and their pet debt collector will send to the registered keeper before they give up:

pepipoo fightback forums parking board:

Consumer Action Group parking board (scroll down to the mustard yellow headings to read threads but don't use the templates, not worth a stamp. Never acknowledge a PPC fake ticket, NEVER appeal):

Or just Google 'do I pay a private parking ticket'? that will find results from the forums telling you the score. It really is safe to ignore, we've all done it and it's just a bogus ticket anyway.
Please stop worrying, these fake tickets are meaningless and only useful as paper aeroplanes. Nothing happens to your credit rating and 99.9% of PPCs don't do Court, only mail threats, because those that have tried Court in the past have lost almost every time.
Don't believe the letters, relax and tell your friends & family about this scam!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Good for them. It doesn't magically make the charge enforceable though. It's a just a method of making you think otherwise.0
