    People park on my drive.

OK it is not at the front of our house but land to the side but it is our drive with a garage.

And no I do not work for a clamping firm or clamp anyone myself but I had thought about doing it, but I would only make a small charge £10 for removal of clamp as my aim would just be to stop people parking on my land and blocking access to our garage.

If they did not like that I would get their car towed away and then they would have to pay £100's of pounds.

That incident didn't take place on a private driveway, but on a piece of land in front of a row of lock-up garages. Big differ enc.

Ours is something like that, good on him.

Ours is private and its a drive to our garage. Just beccause it is not in front of our house what is the difference?

Maybe he needs to buy a clamp now to reclaim the fine. But as he has been banned maybe just leave the clamp on untill he can drive again and needs to get car out of garage.

It had no link, It was not to long and I have no idea why.
  • Neighbour had a car block his drive entrance. Got a tractor to tow it to small lane nearby and left it there and reported an abandoned car to the cops. Not suggesting that anyone does this of course. (I know not everyone has a tractor)

Have you tried putting up a sign saying "no parking - private driveway". My neighbour did this, in a similar situation to yours, and now nobody parks there.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?

Totally over the top reaction, in my opinion. By the law that is. £2000.00 fine and 12 mths ban is excessive, drunk drivers get less. I bet the prosecutor would not have taken her own recommendation.

Seems over the top but I believe as he was charged with dangerous driving the 12 month ban is mandatory? I suppose the £2k depends on his means?

I can however understand his frustration.

As Tristontana says a sign may work. Clamping somebody could cause you all sorts of problems. Some drivers can become aggressive even when they are in the wrong.

True. But is that in the picture private property?

I have a friend who has a restaurant in the city centre, he is forever getting cars parked across his rear entrance which is shuttered and is a dropped kerb. He has phoned the police many times and has never had any sort of action taken. The local CEO tickets the car but it does not get moved and it can be there for hours.

He was thinking of purchasing a large trolley jack and swinging the cars around so they obstruct the road. I advised him that he may be the one who ended up in trouble.

I fully intend to follow the advice given on here and ignore all requests for payment, but can someone please confirm I am doing the right thing for my piece of mind...

I was given a PCN by Vehicle Control Services, Sheffield, for £80 for using a FREE parking space, at an office premises where my company has an office. I was in a rush and didn't look for the signage (obviously afterwards I did, and it was everywhere). I appealed the same day (before I read the advice on here) by sending an email appealing the ticket...All that I have received back is an automated response. The vehicle is registered to my wife but the email identified me as the driver.

I have since recieved the first request for payment £80 plus an extra £40, but this was addressed to my wife so they have obviously totally ignored the email that I sent previously.

Am I right to keep ignoring on the grounds that £80 for a free parking space is extortionate and that it was an honest mistake. Do i need to make further contact using one of the suggested letter formats?? Also having read some other posts, the yellow and black envelope that the ticket was put in, had the words only to be removed by driver on it... My understanding is that this is illegal and only police/council tickets can have this wording on, further grounds?

Keep on ignoring on the grounds that it is an unenforceable penalty for alleged breach of contract, the remedy for which would be actual damages incurred ie. £0.

You don't need any further ground - just ignore and they will go away after a few letters.
