Parking Charge Notice - Merry Hill

I have had lots of experience with parking tickets and have won every single one of them.
Horace, I'd be really interested in the details of the tickets you've won.
Were these private parking invoices? Which companies? How did you defeat them? Were they withdrawn on "appeal", or did you defeat the claims in Court?0 -
Unfortunately, Westfield have started to charge for parking on the Merry Hill site because of a government directive. They charge according to government guidelines too - our greedy government seems to think that £60 is fair.
Wow this place is incredible!
Do pardon me if i doubt you Sir. Got some detail about that 'govt guideline' ?0 -
I was watching the wardens in Merry Hill this last Saturday taking photos of cars parked on double yellows/not in marked spaces. I know it was busy (the car parks anyway - the shops were deserted!) but it doesn't mean you can flout normal parking rules. Its long overdue - we couldn't follow the arrows in the correct direction to get out of the carpark once we were in it because people had just abandoned their cars on the ends of rows. It was utter chaos because of some unthoughtful people.
I've never seen any indication that Westfield are starting to charge for parking (I've emailed them to find out from the horses mouth). And the MFI carpark is now shut as both buildings up that end are empty so instead of utilising the space coming up to Xmas they just shut the gate! (I've emailed them about this too!)0 -

If you live there you can walk
:rotfl:
I go as little as possible, but it is useful! I've done most online, but there are still things you need to 'see' before you buy. If I could get a bus or train I would to avoid the circling in the carpark which pushes my blood pressure up but there isn't a direct one, so I'll just have to get there extra early
Though I've honestly never seen the shops sooo deserted even on a normal Saturday in summer!0 -
is there really no spaces withing a 10 -15 minute walk?0

Merry Hill is in an 'estate' and so you would have to park way out and walk across some VERY busy roads to get in. It's quite sprawling, so no you can't just park 'round the corner' and walk in - I'm guessing everyone would do it otherwise! :rotfl:0

My response from Merry Hill;
"Merry Hill do not charge for parking although there is a company UKPC parking control who operate at the centre and issue tickets for incorrect parking.
· Disabled bays – Where a blue badge is not being displayed.
· Parent bays – Where it is seen that no children arrived in the vehicle.
· Clear obstruction to car park entrances, exits, or free flow.
· Vehicles parked completely on pavements.
· Parking on footpaths leaving insufficient room for a wheelchair to pass.
With regards to the MFI car park Merry Hill have no jurisdiction over this land as it is not owned by them.
Regards"0 -

Also I don't think they should be parent bays but baby bays because as soon as my little ones moves into a front facing car seat at about 12 months I won't need extra space because I won't have to pull the whole baby seat in and out, just him.
Maybe they need to make the whole thing more official and you get a badge to display that expires when your child reaches one. Do some research as to how many baby bays are needed in comparison to disabled bays and change some of the spaces. Now that is common sense to me!!0
