:j I checked on MSE to see how our Travelex card might be viewed. We go abroad for 3-4 months very year (.....yes I know!)
I'm sorry but Martin's page on this is not fully informed.
Today I compared Euro rates between Fair FX and Travelex on their web sites and they were identical at 1.156 to £. I then looked at T & C's.
FAIRFX (Martins best pick) charges 1.5% for each ATM withdrawal abroad - BUT TRAVELEX cash passport has no ATM fees - its a no brainer.... yet reading the advice page one would be tempted to think Fair FX was the best bet - I don't think it is.
Also there is no mention by Martin that if you transfer money onto a prepaid charge card direct from your UK sterling bank account and onto a charge card in Euros or dollars or what ever, your bank will charge you its usual foreign currency conversion fee - watch for that! if you can do same with hard cash it may be better
treat all advice with caution - check it yourself!

If you go travelling 3 or 4 months a year, you will be better off with the Halifax clarity card, The wholesale MasterCard exchange rate is much better.0 -

Hi all, I was just wondering if someone could help, my father in law wants a prepaid card to buy stuff online. The thing is my mother in law won't use her bank card to buy online as she paranoid! So they need one they can get from a shop in town. They are talking about getting a Premier Card as they do them at the post office, but I looked on their site and they do a monthly fee.
Is there any better ones out there what they can get? It has to be able to be picked up from a shop as they wont order online :wall:
Thanks in advance0 -

Think you can get an Orange cash card in an Orange store. You should probably tell them its much more secure on the internet :P No clerk can take the information off the merchant receipt online :P0 -
Hi. Can anyone help me through the maze that is prepaid cards? I'm looking for a card to use in Euros, that doesn't cost a fortune to have/buy/use and can be used at petrol stations in France. I didn't think this was a lot to ask for but having just got (at a cost of £10 per year) a Skrill card it states that it cannot be used in petrol stations! The orange card sounds good but I can't find the info I need on it.

I would like to point out the good and the bad for getting one or two of these cards.
The Good . Read the Article. Great advice. Good thing to have.
The Bad. If you have anything left on the card when you get home you get hit with poor exchange rates. I have 400 € left on an Adsa card. Worth £340. I will only get back £320. £20 loss. (bad planning)
Only put the minimum amount on these cards. Take your money out of an ATM when abroad and reload as you go along.
Like most things in life there are traps with everything to do with money and banks/ money lenders. Use you head. Do your research
( Oh and don't forget to get cash back on Caxton through Topcashback ! )
Be Good and don't loose money like I did:mad:0 -
I did not know about the TopCashBack thing with Caxton, so TYVM for that.Signature removed for peace of mind0

Hi Everyone.
I haven't read the entire thread which I apologise for. I just have a question for a friend.
My friend is a secondary card holder for a prepay credit card. If the primary card holder has bad credit rating, does being the secondary card holder on a prepay card affect her credit score? Does this now mean he is linked to her?
Thanks0 -
Hi,
Does anyone know of any that you can buy in a shop please ?
The Orange one you pay in the Orange shop but the card is sent to your home address.
Thank you.0
