Hi, can you set up direct debits on these prepaid cards? Am looking at the Cashplus one, to help build up my poor credit.
thanksDon't let your fears stand in the way of your dreams. :A0 -
@ gj195 Not so sure about Direct Debits on your cashplus card.
The leaflet that came with my escape prepaid Mastercard says you can pay bills via DD or standing order. You'd need to upgrade to do this though. 2 upgrade options, one is free & the other costs £5 and you'd need a passport or driving licence. Haven't used mine yet, waiting for the upgraded/personalised card to drop through the doorSealed Pot Challenge 15 #78

Hi yorkshire bank do a Pre-paid Travel Card, dont no if its been mentioned before0
-
sorry to be naive about these cards, but we're off to Germany soon and intend to hire a car there.
as you have to have a credit card to hire cars abroad, would this type of card be accepted? and how do you know if you've put enough on it with out it running out when we're away?0 -
I believe prepaid cards are not suitable for car hiring. I never tried one, but since debit cards are o accepted, these are likely to be the same.
I have been using a FairFX euro card in France and it was not accepted at pay @ pump.0 -
Cashplus allow car hire once you had the card a couple of months.0

I intend on using a prepaid for emergencies when I'm in China next year (travelling from the UK). From what I gather, Fairfx offers a better rate than Caxton FX. However, I cannot find exchange rates these cards use for Chinese RMB? Also, if I go for the FairFX, presumably I would have to base it on the exchange rate from Dollars or Euros to RMB? In that case, which would be best, or would the Caxton (Global Traveller) be better for me as it exchanges from Sterling into any currency?
Hope that makes sense and somone can help0 -
