I was half watching as well so I'm not sure whether this is right but I thought she said bicarb and vinegar.

Definitely bicarb, but I thought it was just a paste with water (should really keep a notebook handy when this is on!).

Steam cleaning is supposed to work very well. If you've a problem with bleach because of your asthma, an oxygen bleach such as Oxiclean would probably be better for you.
  • The easiest way is to scrape out the old grout and apply some new! Grout is cheap, it's pretty easy to do, and takes under an hour.

  • it was just a mix of bicarb into a paste with pater, paste it over the grout and leave for ten minutes or so then rub off (with a toothbrush if necessary.) i'm def going yo give this a go.

  • Can anyone remember what she used to whiten tile grout. I *think* it was bicarbonate of soda. Did she use vinegar as well?

    Hi Kimmywim,

We have an older thread on cleaning grout that should give you some ideas so I've merged your thread with it to keep all the suggestions together.

  • I used to pour bleach down the lines and leave for a wee while before rinsing and it came up great.
We have just done ours with a steam cleaner that we borrowed and it is like a whole new shower cubicle! Didn't realise it was so dirty until they were done with the steamer. I am now on the look out for a second hand one for my new house!
