Cool cool, Ive had a search..but had no joy, find it very hard saving money whilst in an overdraft any simple tips to start me of?0 -
Have you had a look at some of the challenges?
No Spend Days?, Grocery Challenge, make £10 a day, sealed pot etc etc, I've found these really good.
Also it may be worth posting your SOA on another thread(sorry if you have and I havent seen it!) as people give some really great advice about how to save money.
the old style money saving threads are really good for shaving down the grocery budget.
hope that helps a little

You could start small jakey, get a piggy bank/tube that a bottle of whisky came in/large jar and every Friday (say) chuck every bit of change under a pound coin in there! Or save 20p pieces or £2 coins, then every 3 months bundle it up and pay it into your bank, you don't miss the change AND you gradually knock the o/d or CC down this way!Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup

Some great advice there jakey. I would only add two words: SPENDING DIARY! Find a little notebook (or buy one but then your first entry has to be "little notebook"!
) and write down EVERYTHING you spend - even if it is just pence. Over a week or two you will start to see where your money goes. It will also more than likely make you think before you spend so you may spend less.
There are only two ways to sort out debts unfortnately - spend less or earn more. The up your income thread will help with the latter, posting a thread with your SOA as has been suggested will help you do the former.
It can be tricky when you are overdrawn as you are never sure how much money you actually have (assuming you are not paying off your whole overdraft at once and you are paid into that account your overdraft will go up and down). If that is the case you might want to open a spending account. Even if you have to be paid into your overdrawn account you could then transfer the amount you set yourself to live on into a second account and force yourself to stay in credit there. Might be easier to budget that way?
OK - a few more than two words - but those two were the most important! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Hi
Good luck to evryone hoping to pay off all or most of there debt in 2009!!:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j0 -
Another thing to add - if you DO get a spending diary (and yes I do recommend it) and you start saving in a jar, add those pennies up as well and jot them down at the back say - that way if you have an emergency bill you will know how much you can throw at it.Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup
