    Start of a new money week for me. That means the £3.06 left from last week will go into my tin. :)

    I'm desperate to cut down on what I'm spending so I can put it into my pot - surely that's not quite the way to do things??? :confused:

    Never thought money-saving could be such fun! :j

    Overdraft - £2668 :eek:- to be cleared by February 2010

    £3.10 in the pot today that I found when I was tidying up!! Think I might need to do some more of this tidying thing if I'm going to find money everytime!! :rotfl:

    Another £2.15 added today. Decided to sort out my 1p and 2p jars and found £2.15 in 5p's, 10p's and 20p's so they have gone into my sealed pot!

    Going for a walk in a bit so will look out for 'Roadkill' as I have yet to find any!! I normally forget while I am walking and then remember when I am driving but it's not very easy to check the pavement while I'm whizzing(!) along in my little car!!:rotfl: :rotfl:

    No money as of yet today but I did realise last night that I just dump change in the bottom of my bag (rather than back in the purse) so going to trawl through that later and put all that change in the pot! Hope you're all having a great weekend! Le Boyfriend took me out to Nando's last night and then to see Valkyrie (wasn't too bad a film) which was to celebrate my new job! A girl could get used to this :rotfl:
    Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £
    LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000
    Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 2017
  • Decided to put the money I save by walking/ using my free bus travel into the sealed pot and keep a note of it so I can see how much of an improvement I've made to my outgoings.

    Looking through my online banking I've worked out I spend between £15-£30+ on travel.

    This weekend I'm spending the night at a mates who lives miles away, normally I'd spend £2.20 each way, £4.40 total and travel the tube and bus journey which takes roughly an hour and a half. However, a bit of playing around online and I've found I can take two FREE (for me) buses to hers with only 30mins max added to my journey each way :) This suits me fine as I can sit and study at the back of the bus and it feels good to be saving £4.40 for roughly an hours improvement in travel.

    Very please with myself :D

    Saving for my future...
  • Hi there everyone, please may I join you? Been on the grocery challenge and flylady forums for a while and the weekly meal plans - but really would like to start actually saving - on a very tight budget so nt really sure if I can put a target at the mo and may need to raid the pot if things get really tight. Will have to use the shrapnel - can't really put in £s - but it's all a help! thanks! looking forward to meeting you all!

    It's not a case of being naughty for opening sealed pots early. It's a case of "we've saved some money up which we now need URGENTLY / for an emergency" <cross face>

    I'd rather have opened my pot to bank the £26 that was in it than pay £66 in Reserve Fees, for 15 days, for not having enough money in the bank

    hiya cally6008,
    Sorry if I've offended you! If you read back over the last few pages you'll see that a few of us are having a bit of lighthearted banter. We all understand that sometimes you have to break into your pot to pay something, I did last year, so I know what it means to have to break into it. Hope this goes some way to explain about the post I put on here!
