Hi, I would love to join in this. I have a huge tin that I can use for this. I don't really have a target but just to be able to leave it till is full or end of year, whichever comes first would be nice.

A warm welcome to joanie and any problems with changing cash to notes at banks next December, then ask your local shops as they have to pay every time they want to get cash, so they'll be glad of it from you. They'll usually take it all in the one day, but best to ask them what's best for them a little in advance. Welcome also to choccycat, mommyof4 (well done indeed in saving the smaller change for charities, very commendable!), katholicos, you save it exactly as you wish as it's not necessary to have a target at all. Not too late at all JaneLiz and a warm welcome to MSE as well as the thread. Looking forward to 'meeting' your pig ASAP! Welcome also to oligeo, zavarony, tiddly widdly (well done with the NCH saving!) and LoLo! :D You'll all find your numbers at the end of the list on the first post of the first page. It will also help you to read through the 1st & 2nd posts of the thread as it explains a lot.

    Hi everyone.

I did quite well last year with this challenge so am looking forward to it again in 2009. I've decided that whatever I save will be shared between my ISA and paying off my student loan. I currently owe about £3400 on my student loan (I think anyway :o). This is decreasing very slightly each month with payments from my wages, however it would be nice if I could maybe pay off a bit extra at the end of 2009 to reduce the outstanding loan a bit quicker. I haven't got a target in mind so will just see how it goes.........

Good luck everyone! Happy saving!

DD is still sneaking pennies off me to as she hasn't had pocket money all over christmas.

Happy New Year to you all. Roll on a new and better year!!

My pig is getting heavy and I so wanted to count him last night, just about managed to resist. Thought about getting a knife to his slot like I used to when I was a kid:rolleyes:

I'm sure someone will come along and allocate you a number shortly elsie - I've not bothered setting a target either, it seemed somewhat fruitless as I can't see into the jar :D

Taking a look at spam.jam's topic on the virtual sealed pot challenge might help you reach your goals that little bit faster. It's easier than traditional sealed pots too, as you don't even need to leave the house!

*Edit: and two pots are always better than one.
