Husbands! I was doing really well today both calorie and penny wise until I got home from a later than usual finish (7.15pm) wondering what my other half had made for tea. Puzzled I found the kitchen empty, the oven cold. He'd sent for a takeaway and left money with the kids!
So when it finally arrived I was sooooo hungry. Completely mucked up my money calculations so I'm going to have to cheat and take off an 'average day'. Lord knows what the half chicken tandoori has done to my waistline.
bfast branflakes, milk, (17.1)
lunch apple, banana yoghurt (25.0)
'high tea' cheese on toast (10.0)
dinner tandoori chicken, popadom, a little rice. (?)
So a nominal £6.43 left for the week!Popsy0 -
Just having bfast fruit salad and greek yog. Mr T has frozen luxury fruit salad at 49p at the moment and I'm really enjoying it. It does me 3 days so at less that 20p a portion I'm very happy.
Have wholemeal roll with philly and marmite for lunch.
Dinner HM mince and onion pies, using linda mccartney soya mince, I put it in ramekins and only put pastry on the top. Served with roasties, sprouts and carrots. Doing much better with the walking this week. Will be swimming this eve.
Floyd I don't follow any plan, have never done so and can't work out calories as I home cook most things and life is too short. I do like the tips those on plans post and like reading others meal plans to get ideas.WL 11 st 5lb as at 050109. 160209 11st 2lb

I don't think reference to them is banned
The difference is that you CAN do WW and SW by filling your shopping trolley with branded ready meals etc. OR you can do WW and SW by making your own food from scratch.
That's more what this thread is about, making your own meals like OS but making them more healthy (whether that includes counting points, syns etc, or including your 5 a day, doesn't matter so much).
So this isn't really the place for continual diets of food replacement sachets or branded ready meals but IS the place for "proper" real home made food
So anyone that wants to shift the lbs by cooking their own healthier meals is welcome - doesn't matter whether you count points, syns, fat grams, calories, exercise more, weigh yourself, measure yourself - all are welcome
That's what I thought anywayworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Thanks so much for the recipes Keiss 21! I'm having a weekend of doing my chores and cooking up some good nosh so I'll bash those out! I'm not the best at baking so it may take a few goes to get it right!
This is exactly what I was hoping to get from this thread. I know how to eat well but I often fall to the laziest option and I want to curb my food spending. I think it can get ridiculous the amount of money people spend!
I guess I could have easily joined a WW thread but I want to break away from that and go back to basics so to speak. It is my aim to be cooking everything from scratch by the end of the year. I want to apply what I do on points to OS cooking and convert all my food stuffs to HM. Which is (trust me!!) a major challenge for me!
Plus .... OSers are nicer than most!!House saving Targets:

Sorry - I am getting a little confused now - do I continue to post my daily menu plan on here or not? I don't use ready meals, everything is home made - it just that I follow the SW plan. Should I post menus and not mention syns values or free foods or SW or should I just don't want to jeopardise this thread my continuing to take part:eek:

Important. Please read:
The thread should be about healthy, old style eating. That means recipes and meal plans, support and encouragement and healthy eating. What shouldn't be accomodated here is if the thread goes off topic and covers ready meals, fad diets and weight loss clubs. There is a good thread that covers all that on the 'I wanna' board. So if the thread becomes an extention of that, we will have to close it and ask people to join in there instead.
In the first line it says meal plans are OK so please keep posting retired lady, I like your posts and you are great at giving support and encouragement to others.WL 11 st 5lb as at 050109. 160209 11st 2lb

Carry on as normal Marion - like you said you're not using ready meals
and your meal plans give us all good ideas
The board guides keep a check and obviously haven't had any issues with any of your posts so far - they have posted comments here previously and deleted posts when things have gone off topicworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Well done Tappy :T , you must feel so chuffed.
Glad to say things are still going well foodwise. Not been tempted so stray, however if I lose anything at all this month it will be a bonus. Please, please don't let me have put any more on. DD's birthday next week but she doen't want a cake so that's one less temptation. As her wedding dress has just been ordered in an american size 10 she's getting all worried that it will be a UK size 10 in measurements. When she was measured her bust was a UK 10, her waist an 8 and hips a 12. Should be interesting  .
DH took pupkin for a gallop this morning as I have DD's dog to take while she and SIL-to-be are working. So it will be the beach again for me and oldies and then a trek with the grandpup trying to avoid all the mud. The last thing she'll want after a 12hr shift is a house with muddy paw prints everywhere.
I ordered a laptop yesterday and can't wait to get my paws on it. My plan is to write down everything I can remember about family and my life so that if any offspring want to trace the family (and I'm not arround or totally befuddled) they will have a head start. The things I wished I'd asked my grandparents! I found my grandpa's family tree going back to the 16th century on the internet, put there by a very distant relation. The theory is that if my mind is accupied on a mission, I might get diverted from the kitchen and with a laptop I can shut myself away anywhere in the house. We'll see if it works, fingers and everything else crossed.:D
Have a good day folks, Suz"It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them. And every new dog who comes into my life, gifts me with a piece of their heart. Ok, so yesterday went very pear-shaped indeed.
Lunch ended up being the biggest plate of mince and mash that you have ever seen. A typical 'nans dinner'. Needless to say I couldnt finish it, but still my nan was asking if I wanted a bowl or rice pudding
The cooker didnt get fitted in time so it was a takeaway. I ended up getting an omlette. My thinking was as healthy as possibly but from a chippy that simply isnt possible.
And my downfall was a shared lemon meringue last night. Today I have a massive guilt complex because of it
Today
Poached egg on toast
Fruit
Tuscan Bean soup.
Fruit
Chicken, pots and veg.
Hope everyone has a good day.0 -
 I hope my waffle isn't classed as off topic. It all makes perfect OS dieting sense to me, exercise, and diverting the mind from food, but then alot makes sense to me and is totally incomprehensable to others.
Chin up ispartacus, that was yesterday and today all is going to be perfect, ok.
