just to confirm, I too was told in Burtons & Dorothy Perkins (Bristol Cribbs branches) that they no longer do the discount. When I piped up that it wasn't fair as it was still advertised on the internet, I was told that it shouldn't be & they would have to contact the powers that be. I didn't get my NHS discount, so on going home checked the internet again, only to find it had been removed from NHS discounts.

Maybe they just can't afford it at the moment, every penny counts. Yes i know they have more than most of us put together, but in the current climate who knows.

I just got it in the post in my new starter pack. Maybe if you rang recruitment they would be able to help you.

I never knew there were any NHS discounts!!! I've been a nurse for 10yrs!!
On another note, my friend told me there is a 'cycle to work' scheme which means you can buy bikes and equipment tax free, it comes out of your pay before deductions and if I remember right she is paying hers off at £20/month so interest free too. She and her husband have both bought bikes through this and have just bought one for their sons Christmas present...classed as equipment!

I've just been looking into discounts for nhs staff. If you type in NHS Staff Discounts you can register with a site that seems to work similar to Quidco. You do your shopping through the links and earn points that are converted to cashback. Not had a really good look yet but it looks pretty good.

    Hope this helps someone

I hvae an NHS gold card via medic care. I have it as my company gives a discount to NHS staff. Look on your local intranet as it should have a link. Also we were told that staff should be getting a new discounts handbook (this was in my local area - but I guess it would be nationwide)

I didn't know Dorothy Perkins had stopped the discount, I've shopped there recently and had the discount. I've asked for DP vouchers for xmas so I hope they are still doing it.

And I cannot believe I didn't know about the Nandos discount  I LOVE Nandos!

I think i'm going to start asking everywhere now, they can only say no at the end of the day :D

I'm not sure how useful NHS discount is. Ipod Nano with NHS discount from Apple, just over £100. Amazon, just under £100. Sorry to sound a bit vague but the general principle is that to get the discount you have to pay the full price minus the percentage....hmmm
